i was looking into the idea of turbocharging my 4.3 s10 and stumbled upon the idea of putting a supercharger on. in particular a supercharger from a 3.8 bonneville. i looked into the intake manifolds and found that the intake of a 95> 3.8 is the same as a non vortec 4.3. my question is will this work, and do you know of anyone who has done this before. ANY INFORMATION WOULD HELP. thanks

Don't know what you mean by the same intake. The Buick doesn't even have a provision for a distributor much less proper bolt hole and port alignment.
I'd look at using an aluminum TBI intake from a 4.3 and modifying it to accept the supercharger. I think it's a great idea.

by the same intake i mean that the intake from a 4.3 would fit on a 3.8 and vise versa. http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=1498&prmenbr=361
part number 350-2111 and 350-2111k. correct me if i'm wrong but that intake fits both a 3.8 and 4.3. thanks for the replies and input.

That is a 3.8 Chevy motor. The supercharger you refer to comes on a buick 3.8.

Some Pontiac Bonnevilles came supercharged. The SSEi models I beleive. But it probably is the same engine as what the buicks you're refering to have.

Yup. Buick V-6.
Wait, you guys are running into one of the biggest problems here. If you belt drove a roots style blower (such as you are talking about.) the intake would be at the back of the motor. Big problem, because it would hit the dist. Couldnt make it work.

The air intake (throttle body) facing rearward would be a problem. Have to fabricate a 90 or 180 degree tube to clear the dist.
Or, modify a CPI intake to mount the blower on top. Have to block off the CPI throttle body.
Man, would that stick it up there or what!?! Could cowl induct the rear facing t.b then.

Ok.....here's my idea...been looking at the same issues. You are correct about the Buick stuff......manifold won't work...also the super's intake would be against the firewall.....no dice.
Now here's where we could get interesting. That super is an M90 eaton. Now the thing about the M90 eaton is that it's currently in it's 4th generation since 92ish. Now believe it or not, the old T-bird supercoupe turbo is also an M90 and is fed from the top with a 45 degree inlet that looks to be just about the same as the 4.3 intake tube. Nose length could always be changed.......you'd still have a problem making it get enough fuel and I'm also not sure about the boost. A bypass valve would also help. I'm looking into it...I'll let you know what I find out.

You are correct.
There was some pics of a guy who put a nissan supercharger on his 4.3l. I think he kept our stock lower peice and made some kind of adaptor plate to bolt the s/c to the intake. But I'm still confused on how he ran the injectors.
I cant remeber correctly but I think it put somehwere around 280 or 290 at the wheels? (could be wrong)

Used a Vortec FMU and the factory injectors and claimed 257 rwhp on 5 PSI which is IMPOSSIBLE with just headers and exhaust.
Nicely done for what he did do, but I wouldnt trust the seal to the plastic upper, no way no how!
