Just thought I'd ask someone that has had issues with the radiator, Mines leaking a little bit on the drivers side just below the hose, I can't see anything leaking from the hose, it looks like about 1.5" below the hose, could it be the tank?

They are prone for cracking... Time to up grade to a heavyduty one from JTR....

Edit: I just looked on their site and couldn't find then for sell. You might have to call them and find out what the deal is. I'm sure you could find the same radiator else where. I just have no idea where though.

My original one started leaking on the drivers side & I got a good used one & it lasted a year & started leaking again on the drivers side,so I agree with the other guys...time for a radiator.

I bought one from Advance auto for like $150 & so far so good & it came with a lifetime warranty !! I was eyeballing that JTR one for future upgrade, looks like I waited to long.:(

I vote for the JTR Rad and it is roughly the same price as a GOOD stocker unless you buy a crap one or get a junkyard rad there is no logical reason to not get the JTR.

I've had man for a few years now and it is absolutely the way to go.

I went the same route as Dan-( worx )^^^^^ i bought the parts store gimmick but i never plan ahead. for my 01 blazer
But the JTR radiator sure looks sweet for the $$$

mine cracked in front of the upper rad hose on the drivers side. (yours could be cracked in front where you can't see and is following the ribs back around to where you can see)

It only leaked when it was cooling off from behind hot though, never while actually hot and running.

The rad. in my mother's explorer leaked at the seam of the aluminum/plastic part of the tank when it got hot so you might want to check that out also.

Either way, it sounds like you need a new one, as every1 mentioned.

Found a 2 row on ebay, little skepticle on that, for only 78.00 free shipping,????I can go through Oreilly's 101.00 my cost,(1 row) I'm just worried about the tranny and cooler lines. I hope I don't screw the lines up losening them up.

JB weld it and then order the JTR Rad.

Ed the trans and oil lines use a C-clip-similar to the C-clip behind interior crank handles on windows, pull the clip and the line pull out- they do have o-rings on them-just be sure when you re-insert the line in the new radiator in locks in

I been doing a little research on the rad situation myself. My 4.3 rad doesnt cool my V8 for ****! Be careful with those ebay jobs. The ones you want will have two 1" tubes, a real two core rad. SOme of those ebay rads claim two core, but they are two 1/2" tubes in each core only giving you 1" total. The JTR is only 1 1/4 thick, but its priced good. Probably better than what you will get from a big parts supplier. This is for if you truely are looking for a upgrade, im sure a stock rad will cool it. You can tell im having cooling issues!! hahaa

Yeah thank you for that info, I was just thinking about that, I also run a 180 thermo and as of yet it has never over heated on me even in this 100 degree + heat, If I were droping a LS1-2 I'd do the JTR, Just for the heck of it, I might just see what they can do might be interesting.

It's funny, but not really, it can be a pain in the butt, but I've seen some V8 swaps where they don't have any cooling issues at all, then there's some that can't get it to cool period. It's really strange.

I was just trying to see if there was any other options I had, if any without doing a lot of mods.
I'm still suffering from doing the rear end swap a month ago. When you get older, seems like it takes longer for the aches and pains to go away.Really ticks me off, it slows me down. Well I ain't ready to slow down,... lol or grow up for that matter.

My neighbors 97 Bravada I think cracked at the same spot a couple years ago.

The stupid thing don't leak all the time, just when I first start it up,I drive it to and from work, and this is sometimes, but when it does, all that leaks is about the size of a softball.
Maybe it's giving me time to get hyped up for the job I don't know.

Its a pretty easy job.

Those plastic round things on the lines, do they pop off or how do I go about losening the lines, can I just use a wrench to losen the nut, or do I have to take those plastic round things off and pop the lines off?

I'm confused and haven't even started. It's just, I don't want to break anything.

When changed my radiator I thought to myself, "maybe I should take a pic of how to remove the lines. Just in case someone needs it" 2+ years later and.....waalaAA! :)

Once the clip is out the line with pull right out. If you lose a clip don't worry. There are plenty more right on the wall of the "Help" section.

Mostly cloudy and quite humid here.

I know you fellas are a bit elderly, so instead of me saying "Let your 3 year old play with the camera and you been getting a new one in no time" I'll say "let the Grand kids play with it...."

Fo really tho, I bought my (well I made my wife buy it....she let my son play with it and break it) under $200 camera like 2 years ago because the other one got destroyed....If it were up to me I'd be scanning Polaroids...

He He He, went from radiator replacement, to the weather, that's pretty good.

Pretty good heat wave going through here, we've had excessive heat warning for the past 2 weeks, it sucks, plus the Missouri river flooding all over the place.

I am having a problem with my new JTR radiator.

I am trying to put my replacement radiator in that I got from JTR & the fittings int he new radiator are different than what came on my truck factory. I need GM quick disconnect to 5/16 flare & I cannot find any online. The guy on the phone at JTR was no help.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanx!!!

You know a guy goes and buys these nice aftermarket replacement parts, and don't send all you need to finish the job. I see guys buy stuff from Keystone via Oreilly's and some of the stuff is a guessing game, and the tech people are morons, either that or they are from a foreign country and you can't understand a word they say.

It's all about screwing the buyer, leaving you scratching your head, and a few choice words, but the whole idea is to make money for the company, at the buyers expense.
