View Full Version : Intermintent Wipers...Not so Intermintent
My intermit wipers are not so intermintent anymore. Even on the lowest setting they go like they are on low.
Is there a relay & where is it located ??

We have'nt had that issue yet with our 2nd gen stuff, but the 1st gen Jimmys we've had in the past had issues in the turn signal stalk, they got sensitive and would cause the wipers to go on , just turning the directionals (blinkers) on.
Maybe the circuitboard in the wiper motor? maybe
Looks like its in the wiper motor....
I just bought one from S10Warehouse on ebay. for $25 shipped.
Those guys are the chit when it comes to S10 parts !!!

Yeah I like s10warehouse.
My wipers on the Jimmy used to only work when they wanted to. I found out that there is a soldered connector to where the plug goes that is prone to getting screwed up. I think it was Stu that told me you could fix it by re-soldering it. I ended up getting a new one then re-soldering the old one. Never tried it out though....
Now on my Blazer, when I hit the washer fluid the wipers tend to stay on....Then I have to turn them on and off to get them to stop.. My guess it it in the trun signal switch deal but I might try my "repaired" wiper plug circuit thing-a-ma-jig.

They all do it sooner or later. All you need is to get a pulse board. All auto parts stores have them. Very easy to change.
You have a bigger chance of getting a bad one if you buy a used motor....

Pulse board eh? hmmm.

This is what you need. http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_Wiper-Motor-Pulse-Board-Module-Dorman---Help_5910000-P_2040_R%7CGRPWIPEAMS_837588479____
This will fix the problem. If you replace the motor with a used one you are replacing the problem witch means it will come back or be there when you install it....

Mine do this as well - I've been putting this repair off for years but I think it's finally time to invest the few minutes to change this!

The aftermarket jumped on this as GM has a problem and won't fix it. All GM's pulse boards suck. I'm sure there are better ones on the market I just did a fast search to show you what you need...

Is that the part that makes the full size wiper motors just quit randomly???
Jongo88
07-27-11, 01:21 PM
Yes it is.. my 97 full size would just stop and if I hit the stearing wheel real hard they would start working again... I replaced the pulse board and it was fixed...

I couldn't think of the damn name of that part for the life of me. That's what I was calling the "plug circuit deal" or what ever I called it.
Got my used wiper motor in & popped the board out & installed in my truck & they work like they should again.
Hopefully for a while !!

I removed the cover, does the circut board just "pop" out? I don't want to break anything.

FYI anyone looking, there is a HUGE price difference in the aftermarket and oem parts. $18 vs $80

Good to know.....the wipers in the S10 work only shen they want to. Might have t pull the motor apart and check the connector solder joints.

I tryed it and gave up...
For $29 for a new board, fixing is not even worth the time.

Fixing it is worth it when its only gonna be on the road for another 2 months, 3 tops. Once the Jimmy is fixed, its goin to the first guy with $500 in his hand.

Jay, Eric, Look real good at the solder that connect to the pins that the power plug plugs at. You will probably see where the solder is cracked. All it takes is just a dab of solder to fix it. Stu (aka s10 shop) is who taught me about this.

It sounds like what happened to the escort. The Constant Control Relay Module "which controls all the accessories" would crack right at the joints. They are expensive, so knowing how to fix that was great! As for why bother with this part? Well $20 saved is $20 in the pocket. Or $80 if you buy an oem part...
