Claiming 500 HP 4.3. Here ya go fellas, if its legit this engine could be had for almost as much as a jammer. Jammer only produces 50-60 HP. Im doubting its legit though

Its in peices for the new buyer to see everything. The guy is sending more pics to me. Hell if cranks out 500 horse, Id sell my 327!

For that price it better come fully assembled ready to run with a dyno sheet proving said 500 hp lol

Guy says it was used in Craftsman truck series, 12:5:1 CR, unsure of cam specs. I was under impression craftsman truck used a V8? This has really got my wheels turnin, Ive got a first gen blazer in mind this would be sweet for

Even as a long block, 3000 is really 2500 on craigslist, can you build 500HP 4.3 on 2500 budget? Hell you cant even build a V8 to make 500 horse on 2500 bucks.

Yea we have cars runnin the " Bomber " class at the local asphalt track with beefed up 4.3's and back in the day i believe they did run those but never in the craftsman truck series that im aware of.

Yea i just got to thinkin that lol

All the craftsman trucks are 350's punched out I thought...well...sort of. Their purpose built cast or milled blocks, but their spec'd on 350's

I think Ricky is building something like this. Would this be a bowtie 4.3?

BigTruckDrivah

Block and heads are bowtie, intake brodix. Guy says Busch series ran these engines. Im asking for dyno proof

'94 Big Blaze

I can't find any proof that they did run these engines so you need to do your homework before you make this kind of investment.

He gave me casting numbers, and some pics. Ill post up tomorow. Looks to be legit, maybe not 500hp but its legit bowtie block and heads. Heads are alluminum angled plug BTW. Its a roller cam too. This would make one badazz 4.3, someone here should buy it!

At what rpms though?

BigTruckDrivah

Probably a high revving engine. The bottom end is all forged so it shouldnt be a problem. I wonder if he would sell heads/intake/cam,valvetrain seperate? The ports look pretty damn big in my pics. For the price seems like a decent deal. What did you pay for that jammer Scott?

No way that engine will make 500 HP without a turbo.

$2625+tax and shipping. Took about 4-5 hours to install with a few hand tools and I did it in a parking lot.

$2625.

EEEEKKKKKKKKK!!!

thats what alway scared me about the jammer. What times does Shawn run with his truck? I beleive he's just got a few mods and a 75 shot runnin in the 9's?

Im skeptical tooo. Ill post the casting numbers and pics tomorow. For a 4.3 it is pretty impressive. The intake looks like a mini version of the sbc one!

Craftsman Truck Series has used v8's from day one, The super truck series may have used v6's but not sure. The series didn't get off the ground it was popular for about a year or two, then sorta faded away.

The old ASA series used v6's for a while, moved up to V8's then went broke, the was reborn as late model stocks, Hooters procup then K&N.

I bet it would make a good aspirated engine.

Unless an intake and high CR pistons add another 250-300 horse, I dont see it either. 2.02/1.6 with a 266 and backyard P/P job with headers was iffy at maybe getting 35-40 horse for a realistic goal on my build. That P/P job looks way better but still....I dont believe it.

BigTruckDrivah

This is bowtie stuff, not backyard p/p. I doubt 500 is realistic, but its gotta be worth 300. He sent pics with a dollar bill to compare to, and the ports are big. Says its a raised runner head, angle plug, 55cc comb chamber, alluminum. Even with flat tops he would be in the 11:1 CR range. Not everyday you run across really high performance 4.3 stuff, not from GM

Head casting number 14044883. The block is alluminum too. Just a quick google is showing good numbers for this setup. Im kinda amazed

Here we go, this sheds some light on it. 385 HP seems like a stretch too. Crazy

Shawn runs a 9.42@75.6 with a 2.25 60'. IDK if he got that on street tires or drag radials.

My best is 2.26 60' 9.55@73mph. That was with my old dry rotting 245/50 coppers I had. I'm also quite a bit heavier.

I went to the track with better tires. But I removed the 550 helwigs and that made the ass end to soft. So I was squatting way to hard. It was also hot ass hell out and my IAT were over 220*. I couldn't run the timing I was when I got that 9.55 last year. With water/meth and and something to stiffen up the rear so it doesn't squat so hard I can match or probably beat that 9.4.

If I get a chance (and I still don't have water/meth) I'll throw the hellwig 550s back on and take it back to the track when it 70ish* out.

If its a bowie block and aluminum heads I have the same setup at a local machine shop begging me to buy it, my thread us around here some where.

The aluminum heads will not fit a non bowie block unless u drill them out to fit, it is about a 480 horse motor, its even. Fire, block is punched .30 over the crank and rods are something like a stroker setup. From what I found out it would not be a motor for daily driving, it will perform best from about 3 to 6k rpms. Unless it has the other set of brodix heads on it they run from about 4500 to 8k rpms.

Yep that's them, to some known as super trucks they called them in some parts of the country

Well unless compression ration and gives you 200-300 horse it couldnt be true, hehehe. J/K chris. Thats very impressive numbers from a 4.3, Very tempting to buy it and sell my sbc. Its probably a little more HP and its lighter!
