View Full Version : My First Dyno Run
OK, well I ran my truck on the dyno today. I just did one pass, wanted to get a basic base line before I install the Wynjammer this weekend. I guess the results are alright, I was hoping for a little bit more, but oh well.
What do you all thing, does this sound reasonable based on the mods listed in my sig at the bottom? (edit: Ok, I changed the sig, so it's the same mods but minus the Wynjammer and plus a K&N FIPKII and Hypertech Programming)
Max HP = 162.8
Max Torque = 216.6
Oh and the dyno run got cut off a little short due to hitting the speed limiter at 108mph. Shouldn't really matter since it looks like it was already on the down curve.

Nice numbers so far... now get that jammer on there!!! hehehe

The down curve so early is a good indication of restricted exhaust. The 14-1 a/f ratio is definitely off.
Overall, not bad numbers at all. Ck. my dyno sheet and you'll see what free-flowing exhaust will do.
Yeah, I have a set of ceramic headers to put on, tried to put them on last weekend, but after spending several hours just trying to get the damn flange bolts to budge (after Impact Wrench, WD-40, SeaFoam, Hammer and wrench...) I gave up. I'll probably have to pay someone to get those damn things off. I just don't have the tools or time to get them off myself at the moment.

Borrow somebodys smoke wrench ;).
You mentioned that the A/F ratio looked off, what should it normally be?

Under WOT no more than 13-1. I'm sure it was closer to 12-1 but either their O2 probe calibration was off or they measured after the cat. 14-1 would've pinged like crazy.

Pretty impressive numbers for basicly stock if you ask me.You gonna get a dyno run after the jammer install too.

GREAT NUMBERS! To be honest, most of these 4.3s with a FULL array of bolt-ons only hit around 165-169. The fact that you don't have the headers installed yet and are hitting 162 rwhp is pretty good.
I'm willing to go out on a limb. . . If you're putting down 162 rwhp now, you're looking to hit around 227-230 rwhp with the Wynjammer in place -- and, you won't have the speed limiter to contend with at that point! Get those headers in place and you'll be close to 235, maybe 240. Pretty impressive, in my opinion. Point of reference: Powerdyne @ 7 psi, GMS MAF, e-fan, HPPIII, SuperTurbo cat-back, MSD 6BTM and wires, and K&N intake = 221 rwhp/268 rwtq. If the Jammer produces 65 rwhp, then you'll have those numbers crushed with only 6 psi! Pretty good!
Note to self: I have GOT to get mine dynoed!

Those numbers are about right. I have about the same mods and put out 163hp/222tq.
I'm definitely going to get a dyno run done after the Wynjammer is installed. One of the main reasons I got this dyno run was so I'd have a baseline to compare against the S/C dyno.
It will probably be a week or two at the earliest though. I'll install the S/C this Saturday, but I'll want about a week to get all the bugs out and make sure the engine has settled into it's new power :).
The headers unfortunately will just have to wait. I'm debating on just going to someone and getting an entire custom 2.5" or 3" exhaust including new y-pipe, Dynomax SuperCat, and Dynomax Turbo-Muffler with the headers I already have.
Anyways, guess it's not to bad for a Blazer with 106,000 miles and just the regular scheduled maintenance. Thanks for the comparisons and info!

I think its pretty good considering its a 4x4 auto also more loss thru an auto than a 5spd.
I take it you got one of those 190hp W code blazers

what does a bone stock put to the rears?

depends if it is an automatic or a 5 speed, but my driver's manual says that a T series 4.3 motor puts out 190 @ 4400 and the S series 4.3 motor puts out 180 @ 4400 (both are a bit skewed, I have a 2.2 and it says it puts out 120 @ 5000 and I know that it is closer to 100-110)

Yep -- somewhere around there. I've seen as low as 134 with an auto and as high as 155 with a 5-speed. But, 140-145 is a good "average" to expect.
Well, to make it more interesting I have a dyno run scheduled for next Thursday June 2nd (not tomorrow). That way I can compare this dyno run with one with the wynjammer in place.

D-Caf, when you get there, ask 'em about the weather readings. See if they jibe with what the weather actually is (Baro, temp, humidity). The dyno automatically corrects hp/torque readings. Ensuring their equipment is up to snuff ensures accurate numbers.
Truethfully I'm not sure I want them to change anything. I want this to be a comparison between runs, not neccessarily the perfectly correct numbers. If the weather settings were slightly off for my first run (done 3 weeks ago-ish), I'm hoping that they haven't made any changes in those settings. If they did, it might make it harder to compare the two runs.
