View Full Version : Tach on the steering column
I dont have a tach in my truck and I really want one so I was debating my options as to how Im gunna be able to include a tach on my truck with out it looking ricey or the use of pillar pods. I was looking through my stylin concepts mag and they have ABS molded plastic cover that goes over the factory steering column and holds a 2 inch guage. Has anyone purchased one of these? Are they cool or a waste of money?

2" tachs are almost impossible to read when hauling ass. Accuracy suffers also. Monster tachs are best. Mounted on the dash, an Autometer monster tach with shift light is pretty impressive looking.

www.truckperformance.com has 2 1/16" Tachs that will fit a-piller pods.

I've got a 2 1/2" on my sterring column. It works pretty good for me. I fabricated a bracket and used a pipe clamp I painted flat black to match the column. you don't even notice the clamp.
I agree, those huge tachs look awful... Why not just swap out the cluster?
I posted before on here about swapping the dash guagesa out for some other factory ones with a tacha nd the guy told me i t was a ***** to do so I went for this route.

I said mine on the column was a 2 1/2". It's actually a 2 1/8". It's a Sunpro. Relatively cheap. I don't know how accurate it is, but it seems to work just fine. I don't race my truck. I just wanted to see about where my motor was running. It's a manual and I also wanted to see where I usually shift at.

i mounted my 2 1/2 inch tach on my a-pilar. i loved it there. didnt obstruct the view of anything and was easily readable. looked cool there too. didnt look like rice at all!!!
