ZQ8 centercap??

I have the early style ZQ8 style rims and I'm missing 1 center cap. I have looked everywhere for A replacement to no avail. the part # for my center caps are 15988450. I have contacted multiple center cap places and they all want to sell me the center cap for the 15" 6 black slot wheel part # 15982653. Will they fit the ZQ8 wheel also? The only difference I see is that the bow tie is gold, not red. If that's the only difference I can pin stripe it red.

ZQ8s are all 16"
The GMC logo caps, SS red bowtie caps and std/LS ZQ8 gold bowtie caps are interchangable.

Well I purchased A new center cap off ebay and it finally got here. Problem. It looks the same but won't fit. The teeth on the back side are shorter and won't snap onto the rim.

On the left is the one I bought on ebay. The right is one that I took off the truck. There is A roll of tape 1" tall for reference. Any ideas? I'm completely lost.
