well my TBI kit arrived today. i started to instal it tonight but ran out of sunlight so i couldnt finish it. its going to take a a little longer than usual though. i noticed a few issues with the kit that prevented me from going any further with the install:

the supercharger hits the power steering lines and the ABS bracket. the steering lines i was able to "massage" out of the way, but the ABS will need a new bracket to be made.

is also looks like the charge pipe will interfere with the alternator. i may need to have a pipe with a slow bend in it instead.

the new alternator pulley is going to hit the radiator hose. i'm going to have to get creative with re-routing it.

thats about it really. i'm hoping to finish it up tomorrow. the blower itself is very impressive. i'll try to snap some pics of it.

btw does any one have any tips on how to remove the alternator pulley with out an impact wrench?

I take it you have the 4.3? Can't wait to see some pics of the install!!!

I forgot the size but a torx bit and aaaaaaaaa.........I think itsa 13/16 wrech. Put the wrench on the pulley nut and then stick the torx bit in there and turn the nut righty tighty lefty loosy. I could check later to see what size the torx bit is so you don't have to play the guessing game.

yep its a 4.3

i'm going to buy a torx set tomorrow and a 3/8 drive to 1/2 drive adapter so i can use my breaker bar and my 3/8 socket set. i'm going to start at 8 am, shouldnt take me to long to get it installed and running

Have not installed my Jammer yet. Was going to over the weekend but I was in a fourwheeler accident and ended up in the hospital (not wearing a helmet). I am planning on installing it this next weekend. 94s10 please post all the mods you have to do to get the jammer installed. My altenator is almost touching my radiator hose now, so I imagin I will have the same problem with the pulley. Thanks

ok i worked on it some this morning. i had to run to the parts store so i am waiting for it to cool now. i figured out a way around some of the issues i had with the kit

1. the ABS bracket interferes with the s/c. theres 2 ways around it, remove it and make your own that clears, or remove the part of the bracket that interferes. theres 2 bolts, just cut off the part with the bolt closest to the radiator and it will clear fine and still have the other bolt and plenty of support.

2. the stock radiator hose is not even close to clearing. easy fix for this one, i went to the parts store and asked for a radiator hose for a 93 silverado fullsize with the 5.7 TBI motor. accessories are in the same position as the 4.3 TBI but the radiator hose is longer in some areas that allows it to clear perfect.

3. off course the power steering lines, no biggie they only need to be moved a little to clear

4. the kit is supposed to have the air filter mounted right behind the supercharger. this wont work, the brake booster is right there and wont clear the filter. be ready to have to make custom tubing for the filter.

also the charge pipe hits the alternator. not very much, i dont think its something i should worry about?

i'm still trying to get the alternator pulley off. the guys at autozone were gonna do it with their impact, but i need to remove the alternator first. i bought a socket to fit it so i am going to keep trying to remove it myself.

just got it in and took it for a test drive. i installed it with the 5.7 injectors btw. this thing sounds like a damn f-15 lol. the sound earns it alot of looks. i can definitely noticed a little more get up and go, i wasnt expecting much with only 4 psi. but i'm not getting a boost reading from my gauge. i'm thinking i need to mount it closer to the manifold.

well i moved the gauge vacuum source and am seeing just under 5 psi at about 4500-4700 rpm. Al is sending me a new air intake to use with it so i will have more pics of it next week. here are some pics of where it sits now.

I have a 93 TBI and I noticed a few things different between ours.First the alternator is different and I think mine would clear better.Since the amount of room between the engine and brake lines with out the ABS in the way is different I might have less trouble with the Wynjammer.I took a few snap shots to show the difference.Notice also my engine compartment is REALLY dirty too "daily driver" lol.http://www.sicgmtrucks.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=1317&stc=1http://www.sicgmtrucks.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=1318&stc=1

yeah the alternators are different, yours has the external fan mine is internal. do you mean your radiator hose would clear better? that cog pulley is pretty big and i can almost gaurantee it will hit lol. like i said i used a 5.7 TBI rad hose and it worked perfectly. it was only about 8$ at autozone.

but if you dont have ABS then your set. but be ready to make a custom intake, or buy one that comes with the kit. you cant mount the air filter right behind the s/c, it will hit the brake fluid reservoir. Al is sending me an intake to test out on my truck to see if it clears, pics will be posted next week

Here's a few older pics of mine, might better show off the non-ABS 1st gen space

I'm still wondering how to deal with underdrives and a Wynjammer. The alt pulley I'm using to keep the volts at stock levels is smaller than the factory part, so I imagine the pulley Al sends with the kit will cause my volts to drop.

switch back to stock pulleys?

I really need one of you all to clean my engine bay.I'm almost embarrassed to show pics of mine compared to you guys. But were I work it would be dirty again in a week lol.94S10 I was gonna suggest using a steel flex fit radiator hose similar to what Matt is using.I had one on my last Z28 because of the some mods I had done the stocker was in the way.I bought one from Summit and it worked perfect and looked great to.

mine engine bay isnt quite as clean as it looks in those pics lol. i'm gonna give it a good cleaning this week.

the flex fit hose was what i was originally looking for, but none of the parts stores carried them. plus the 5.7 hose is cheap!

I got mine from ebay for about $25. I've been having some trouble with it leaking at the radiator, tho. Very slow leak, usually just a bit wet, but I need to get a new rubber sleeve for it.

Installed the wynjammer yesterday. I used the 1993 350 radiator hose that 94s10 said get and it works great. I had to cut the abs bracket but it is all good now. I didn't unhook my battery when I installed the jammer so the first few runs I was real disappointed in the jammer. I finally cleared the computer and man is that thing awsome. It sounds like alot of people have underdrive pullies and the jammer. We need to get with Al and do a group purchase for custom pullies lol. My air filter is on but it is all up close and personal with my master cylinder. 94s10 please post the outcome of the air filter mod, I believe if my motor torqued hard enough it will rip the filter off the supercharger or rip a whole in the filter.

My filter wasnt even close to fitting right behind the s/c, i had no choice but to custom mount it. but Al is sending me an intake to test so i will have pics of that.

tunerpike, did clearing the computer make that big of a difference? i didnt unhook my battery do you think i should to clear my ECU?

I could barely tell the supercharger was there before I cleared the computer. When I clear the computer and took it for a run I was very impressed and I am only running maybe two pounds of boost. If you have not cleared your computer you are in for a treat.

do you have to disconect the neg side for any period of time or just disconnect then connect it real quick? i have heard it needs to be disconnected for around 30 min to fully clear it?

tunerpike

Turn your lights on and unhook your neg. terminal. Leave it unhooked for about five min.
