Does Edelbrock make headers for a 1999 S10 (4.3L, 2WD)?
the newest model that they show on their website is 1998. Will the '98 headers fit a '99, or are there differences? I'd perfer Edelbrock over JBA, but if it doesn't work I guess I'll have to settle for the JBAs.
Thanks.

i think 98 and 99 should fit. in 2000 they started with the air injection crap and that should be the only difference from 96 to 03

They make ceramic coated headers, those are the ones I want to get. I'm not even sure if they'll work on my truck, which is a '99 so I doubt if they'll work on your '03 which more than likely has air injection.

Just a precat is the problem. The Edelbroc y-pipe piece will not fit directly and need some form of modifaction. GM moved the cats back and redid the front exhausts after 98 and thats why Edelbroc doesnt make them for 98+. Illegal to modify the exhaust from the cat to the mainfolds when a precat is in place!

Ok, thanks for that info! Actually my cat just crapped out on me so I'll be changing stuff there anyway. I'll probably be going with a Magnaflow high-flow cat.

Well, I've determined that my truck does not have AIR so I've gone and ordered a set of ceramic coated Edelbrock headers! I'll be installing them myself and was just wondering if anyone has any helpful tips or suggestions to make my install go smoothly.
Thanks!

you will want:
-torch of some kind
-big F'in hammer
-large swear jar

nah, the best thing to do would be to take out the inner fenders. difinatly go through the wheel well either way. don't try to do it from the top. other than that it is just a pain. worth it though. :mouse_125

so all things being equal, what would it take to make the 98 edelbrock headers work on a 03, both with no air or egr? also, would removing the precat but keeping the main cat piss off the computer?
thanx!!!

One thing you have to keep in mind, is the fact that the engine in 01 and up sits about 1in higher than the 98-00. With that said, the headers will bolt up to the heads, but the y-pipe will need to be bent in order to make up for the difference in height. I know this because I tried a set of Gibson headers for a 98-00 and the y-pipe wouldn't "bolt" right up to the collectors. It had about a 1/4in gap on the back side of the collector dome and the factory y-pipe. Thats why I don't have headers on my truck. Tried 2 sets JBA and Gibson and they were both wrong.

that is weird that engines would sit at 2 hights depending on years. whay does GM do stupid stuff like that anyway?????

I believe its to reduce stress on the driveline by making it in a straight line with the rear axle. This is just an opinion of why they do it, so I could be way off from the real reason why. Just like Torque Management, why they do it and not make it optional (like a traction control switch in cavaliers, f-bodies, etc...)

Torque Management is there to reduce costs. It is there for protection of their garbage ass transmissions. The 4L60E in the v6 S-trucks is garbage in the stock form. It's even worse in the 4 cyclinder model.
