pulloing the far right vent trim

i can get the vent itself out but cannot get the trip around it out. i want to paint it but will not if it is in place. how?

when i did mine i dont think it came out (i could be wrong.) but if it does i would assume it was just clips or glued in place. i'd pry a little bit and if that didnt work i would try using a hair dryer and seeing if it was glue. if its glue i'd expect it to weaken under heat, then you could pull it out easier.
