Not sure about an '01. But on my '92 the end of the cable just slips into a slot under the dash on the handle.Take a pair of pliers, pull forward and up and it should come free.

Yes I was talking about the ebrake release handle, it goes throught the lower trim peice and I need to take that piece off for the interior swap.

I will go look but I'm not sure its the same as that, I can get it loose from the trim by squeezing the clips with a pair of pliars but then I need to know hot to get the handle loose or something to get it out of that little hole it clips into just for that one piece of trim, I can't let this stop me cause the rest of the inside is already tore apart and I swapped my interior for his and a complete bag setup for mine

Ok guys thanks for all the help I finally figured it out, it was actually a very quick release, so now I feel kinda retarded. Well I am going back at it now gotta get the airbag and the complete dash out and I will be ready to install in the other truck.
