The install went pretty smooth. It took me about 5 hours but I wasn't really rushing. Everything fit great and had no major setbacks. My programmer only had the option for high performance tune, speedo recalibration, and transmission shift points. The only options for shift points were stock and economy??? I asked AL if I was suppose to have more options like ping control, shift firmness and octane settings and he said no. He said he asked them to take that stuff out of the programmer? I have an Autometer Phantom electrical gauge ( 0-15 psi sweep) and it is reading alittle over 7 lbs. of boost! Don't know if that is correct but it is a brand new gauge and everytime you start the truck it calibrates itself for elevation so I asume it is accurate. I was wondering if I need to reset my ECM. I noticed a power increase but not quite what I was expecting (I only drove it about 2 miles)
I remember in another thread someone said the same thing and they reset theres and it made a big difference. I scheduled a dyno run on Monday and I also welded a bung precat to get an accurate air/fuel reading. Let me know what you think about the ECM reset.
Thanks

The ECM can take as long as 1000 miles to adapt to any changes made in air flow etc by modifacations. You have 2 trims sets, short term and long term set and once there established it takes many differenet scenerios in short term trims before the long term trims are redone. So reseting a ECM so it has neither long terms or short terms stored in memory allows it to learn much faster, actually from the first turn of the key it learns idle characteristics and so on.

Thanks, I will try it and see what happens. I am alittle bumbed that my programmer can't control shift firmness, I was looking forward to that.

That thing I posted is actually a little secret in the forced arena which NA people all know to well, well some do.
Being we have adapt learning ECMs you cant, or say I say shouldnt adjust much anything once the ECM has a set of trims established. Thats the biggest problems I see on the boards you cant get people to understand this.
I see people adding all kinds of mods, boost amounts etc and as soon as there done they try to tune them. You'll NEVER get it right doing it like this because the ECM has had no chance to do its thing. You begin to tune and add fuel and take out timing etc as the ECM is commanding the same scenerio, so by the time you get done and drive it some you have to go back and do it again. The ECM took the length of the fuel pulses and changed them, also reset timing trims etc so you go back to correct it again since now its off again, but still hasnt gotten it right because this after tune and run time while tuning it allready had screwed the ECM up as it was trying to adjust on its own. It ends up being a cat chasing its tail, of it gets ahold of it for a second, but then if off and chasing again. Tuning should always be done on reset fresh un educated ECM. That way what you tune will be correct and long term. Thats another area where too much boost will screw you up and never be able to tune it correctly, but thats for another day!

do you recommend doing a reset then use the programmer or the other way around?

Wont matter with a programmer. It only add what its suppose too, but still uses the old trims for start points with its multipying deal it does so the ECM needs to be reset.

I drove it all day today and the more I drive, the faster she feels!
