yes a 5.3 will fit where a 5.7 would go. genIII blocks. i have a ls1 5.7 for sale. look in the classifieds

if anyone out there has actually done that swap or any of the other vortec motors, how did the swap go? Iam very interested in swapping to a 5.3. With the harnesses that current performance makes, it sounds like the electrical end is a breeze.
