So this morning i have to run a service call in downtown houston, i leave from our office about 15 miles away, start the truck, sounds normal, no problems...
i get downtown off the freeway and i hear this sound coming from my engine compartment.....thought that it was prolly just my fan hitting the shroud again, happened when i had the new motor mounts installed, had to raise the shroud about a quarter inch....anyway popped the hood and dont see the fan making the noise, but it sounds like my supercharger making the noise! Not quite sure and on the clock i leave it, do what i gotta do and head back to our office. So i decide to stop and get some grub...truck dies as i slow down...try to restart...wont turn, its trying but somethin is holdin it up. So i push the SOB out of the way of traffic, and i have a scisors with me so i cut the belt to the s/c thinking that what else could it be, and sure enough fires right up. So really not that big of a deal, call al and get it all squared out.
Then i gets better, so i leave Taco Hell, and i start to pickup speed and i get this massive misfire, and so i think that maybe its the tuning, so i program for stock tuning, and get the same problem. So i had the truck towed to my mechanic, and let alone the seized s/c he thinks that i have some top end problems??? not quit sure what thats is but, all i see is $$$$$$$$$$ goin down the drain. I'll have to post later when i find out what the exact problem is.....on the bright side i talked to Al already and everything is cool on that end...its the other end i'm worried about now....

ya i'm up to 70k, and ya wynjammer is under 3yr warranty...
sounds like the bearings started let loose and gave way to some free play in the impellar, resulting in contact with the housing, therefore breaking the impellar which was than inhaled by your engine,, . Just a guess though, Hope you have alot of money put away.
And who cares in the wynjammer is warranty, Is Al gonna cover a new engine??? I didnt think so.

Is it because of the s/c ????

is your s/c head still working properly ? turning freely etc ? mine has been on for 3000 miles and haven't had any problems. plugs are nice and brown and i have been very hard on my truck . ( i almost feel guilty ). could it be something else that caused it?

If this was the result of the supercharger that would be some VERY useful information. But to be fair ANY product has there bad apples in the bunch of good ones.If it was the supercharger it will be interesting to see how AL takes care of it.That will really show what kind of company he runs. But given the benefit of the doubt let's just see what happens with this.I'm sure people will be waiting on buying one now to see if one it was the head units fault and two how it is dealt with.
Well when it started making noise. he should have pulled over and removed the belt then, but he kept on drivin.
As for the s/c, I know of people that had ati, and vortec head units that took a **** on them as well.

Yeah but they didnt end up with a blown motor?
It seems that a number of people on this forum believe I hate fellow s10 owners due to the type of supercharger they have on their trucks. This post was simply a question to the person stating it happens with all blowers. I should of clarified asking about their tune etc etc but then that would have opened up a whole other discussion.
I am VERY sorry about your misfortune.. I did not make any SPECULATIONS as to why your truck blew up because I didnt want everyone to think I was blaming the tune or wynjammer for your problem. It seems that anything I say on here is under the looking glass and any contributions I try to make are automatically bashed and flamed as being untrue.
I hope everthing works out with your misfortune. Good luck

Yeah but they didnt end up with a blown motor?
For the record an ATI unit doesn't need to go bad to blow an engine -- they do that even when they're fully functional in some cases. I have also seen Vortech units throw bits and pieces of themselves into the cylinders and blow engines. The same goes for Powerdyne units.
To flatblack: when you find out anything further, please post up. Those members that own Wynjammers (myself included) have a vested interest in this matter -- if the s/c was the cause of it. I am not saying that it was or that it wasn't. It could be either -- something may have happened that caused the one to fail, which in turn caused the other to fail (a piece of grit ro dirt getting into the s/c and then travelling into the cylinders), or the s/c could indeed have failed and then caused the motor to fail. It will be interesting to see what the mechanic shop you brought the truck to says about the engine. I'm sorry to hear about the motor -- definitely sucks when things like this happen. Keep us posted.
when you say the engine is blown, it would be good to know if it is the block, a piston, a rod, a bearing etc. as long as the block is good, it can be rebuilt. i don't want to speculate about the cause either.
that definitely does suck though.

Now this is a quality post (no sarcasm at all is intended). Yes, the tune would open up a whole new can of worms -- you are most definitely correct on that point.
To clarify, you are not under the looking glass -- at least not from my perspective. I only respond when any potentially problematic post is brought to my attention. No, anything you say is not automatically bashed -- or at least it should not be. Everyone has the right to their opinion -- and that means EVERYONE. I am not on here as much as I would like (many side-projects going on) -- but if you feel that you are being bashed or flamed, bring it to my attention and it will be dealt with as necessary. You and I may have had our disagreements, but as an Admin I try to stay impartial, but we're all human so it is not always possible and "jumping the gun" does happen. My apologies for doing so.

I would like to hear what part of the engine is damaged and see some pics.Just curious to the extent of the damage.

Well, just for an idea of what a small part can do (and I wasn't gonna post this due to current climate) here goes.
3" tall carb stud (shouldn't have even been on there) with locknut holding it down. Seems as if someone decided to fiddle with the car (I don't own it, just build and drive). The locknut and stud get ingested at prolly 2000 rpms.
2 bad pistons (no wall damage thankfully)
4 bent pusrods
1 damaged rocker
1 very expensive aluminum head to repair
Multiple seat damage
2 or more valves
Hopefully the high dollar crank is ok
It just doesn't take much in a closed space. Granted, this was a 13-1 engine (the one I went 10.18@132 in) but the story remains the same. It ain't never pretty.
Well I finally sold my s/c on ebay tonoght for $2100 woot. Thats one less problem to have to worry about, now its time to pay off the quad , and buy the new bike

I have had a bad screw up that resulted in a tad bit of money.A had a 88 IROC I had just got done installing a new cam, lifters, and rockers and a few odds and ends. After getting it all back together and starting it up I here a ta ting ting ta ting ting CLANG CLANG CL CLANG.By the time I got it turned off it had destroyed a few valves scraped the hell out of the cylinder walls and put a hole in one of the pistons.I don't how but I had dropped a screw in to the engine some were and that's all it took. One little old screw.I ended up getting a new engine and rebuilding it.One of the scraped cylinder bores was to deep to even mess with.I still don't know how the screw got there because I NEVER place screws on anything near a exposed engine block. But it got in there some how and I paid dearly for it.

Guys, finally got the see inside of the motor, i had a ton of metal siting on top of the pistons, bent valves, cylinder wall damage....i'm getting a new camera, (sold the old one), next week, and i'll see if they still have the engine, if they dont, oh well. But i'll try to get some pics up of the damage. Also have a brand new s/c for sale...let it go at reasonable price....
Max, you got the bad goat!! you dog!!
Damn that sucks, sounds like it really tore itself up in there. Have they been able to confirm what caused the damage yet?

From his post it sounds like the supercharger is in good shape and the motor just didn't like the boost.
No fault to be had there. "That's racin'........"

Not Quite, i received payment for part of the replacement motor, and the metal on top the pistons was from the fins on the supercharger...supercharger has been replaced as well...thank god this happened with wynjammer and not some other company that would have said "deal with it" Thanks Al....
Well, that really sucks that it was the jammer that caused it, but very cool that Al stood behind it and payed up. That had to hurt his bottom line, but it was good he stood behind it.

The whole thing sucks...trust me i'm really missin the boost, the whistle, it all sucks...but what can you do...i guess its time to move on...

Well I tell ya what the way Al stood behind his product and paid up on the damage realy convinces me to consider his product before others.
The whole thing sucks...trust me i'm really missin the boost, the whistle, it all sucks...but what can you do...i guess its time to move on...
Well, when you get the engine back up and running, and since you now have a new jammer, are you going to sell the jammer, or take leap of faith and put it back on?
I have to admit if my engine was torn up by my S/C I would be hesitant to put it back on (even harder to convince my wife that it would still be smart), but I think I still would. It's always a risk, but I guess if we really wanted to run safe and sure, we wouldn't do anything to our engines besides scheduled maintenance ;).
