Oil Drain Plug Broke

i went to go and change my oil the other day and all the drain plug does is spin, it dosent loosen on tighten. its not leaking so im gonna drive it untill i can fix the problem. but my question is would it be smarter to go junk yard hopping for a oil pand and drain plug or just weld the one i have now shut and suck the oil out of the filler with a pump?

Get an oversize "self tapping" plug from the parts store.

The weld broke on the inside of the pan so there's no hope of getting the plug out.

Weld it if you have the ability or get a used one. Nice time to think about a Moroso with windage control. Easy way to make horsepower.

i was thinking about welding it and just buy an oil pump thats used for an inboard boat engine and just pump it out, any other sugestions on how to get the oil out?? it really needs an oil change.

The boat engine dipsticks go to the bottom of the pan allowing the oil to be removed. Ours don't.

For temp. purposes only, you could drill an 11/32" hole and use a 1/8 NPT tap and plug.
All my tranny pans have this style drain plug.

Be very careful to not hit the oil screen.

get the old plug out, weld a nut over the opening, get the correct bolt, put teflon in it, put it back together, fill it and drive it....

thats a good idea, never thought of that one, well what i did was made sure the one on there now is not gonna leak, and then shot a self tappin sheet metal screw through the bottom of the driverside. and then covered it with permatex. im gonna invest in getting a slightly lower mileage 4 cyl in a few months, so untill then this will work. thanx guys for the help
