with the cost of a hockey puck you would be better off to buy a kit from JCwhitney then the kit will come with all the bolts and brackets that you need. Hockey pucks can be used but i would not put more than one at each mount so if you are looking for more than an inch get a kit

I say rub them down in vasaline so they dont weather, stuff them in and romp the crape out of your truck. Then come back and tell us how it was.

1. If it's gonna ride like **** don't do it. I can speak from experiance*
2. If it's aginst the law or as bad as heating or cutting the springs, *dito from above, to lower a vehicle don't do it.

I say don't do it half assed just buy a body lift kit, it's porbably be hella better in the long run.

I've seen it twice. Both people didn't know a lift only cost 60-120 bux and you can cut lift-blocks in half if you need less than 2" or you need a 2 3/16 and a a quater lift.
I don't like body lifts because I've seen quite a few lifts break on the trail.

After-market torsion keys and a flip kit will give an s-10 2"-3" of supension for about 100 bux and you get the added articulation to keep your truck from tipping as bad. A The draw back is shocks, but lifted set of ranchos only cost at most 150..

Since so many are against the hockey pucks, why is it listed as an option in the the sticky "Lift and Tire Sizes for your 4wdr S-series"? http://www.s10planet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4087

Personally, buy the lift kit. The life you save may be your own!!!

Its an option, not recommended, but an option

Its kinda funny that someone can go out and spend all this money to buy a Blazer and then do something half assed. Do people not realize that its not just thier life they are putting in danger when they half ass things but everyone elses on the road. You do this a puck or two breaks puts a bind on your steering then what? Hit the pregnant lady that has 2 other kids in the car or try to steer off the road oh what you can't steer off the road and kill someone then what? ****in save a couple of bucks and do it right or don't do it at all.

Don't believe everything you read. ;)

It is in Lift and Tire Sizes for your 4wd S-series thread because, as mrmidnight said, it is an option... not recommended. Personally, I would not recommend any sort of body lift for anyone who is going to wheel their S10 (although I have heard of this happening on non-wheeled S-10s too)... body lifts are prone to failure... usually they collapse... the mounting plates on the body itself bend upwards, therefore throwing off the shift linkage and the gap between the fenders and doors. The best way to compensate and/or correct this is to take a 1/4" thick piece of steel that has a 90 degree angle and weld it to the floor and the inside of the rockers before putting the blocks in.

However, here is the info on the Hockey Puck Lift:

If its not recommended, then don't even list it as an option. Or at least give a rebutal post as to why its not a viable option. There are some good posts countering the hockey puck info in this thread an any one of them would be enough so a newbie can at least seek more info. The way the sticky stands now, any newbie will believe it. Is that what you want?

The post above me would also be valuable info to add to that sticky. He is right, the down side to body lifts is the failure of the support brackets, Reinforceing them will help to eliminate that negative effect.

Sorry if I offend anyone one, not my intent, and tact is not my strong suit. You would know that if you read my newbie post. :) I just don't want some young kid endangering his life or that of another.

Like I said in my fist reply to this topic.
The life you save might just be your own.

WOW, you even have a how to on using the hockey pucks. First off, hockey pucks are for hockey, they are not designed to support the wieght of a truck, espeically off-road. Like someone else mentioned, its like making a cage out of pvc, or exhaust pipe, or even sewer pipe. Its just a time bomb waiting to go off...... WOW!!!!!

There are how-to's for many things here. Almost all alter the vehicle from it's intended purpose. Almost all could be taken to task from some point of reasoning. Most could "endanger" someones life somehow or the other.

It is much easier to condemn and criticize than to offer up something constructive.
