General consensus seems to be 275-325 rwhp. Not too shabby for stock parts actually.

ARP rod bolts would be considered a must when getting to those levels.

Balancing the assbly. and a quality damper would be considered cheap insurance.

Honestly talking to several 4.3L engine builders. Our 96+ blocks are not good for high hp.

Either an older syty year block (not nessacerly a syty) or one of those fine gm peices!

The crank I've heard up to 500+ Usually Cryo can make it alot stronger also!

600 horse is not out of the question if youve ever heard the quote "win or BLOW UP"

not looking to blow up.........!!!.......maybe cruise around at 400-450hp...and when the need be, crank the wastegate and peg 600 hp......

2 ways to go fast, cubic inches or cubic dollars. ;)

Or the third way,to go fastest. Use both!

How much was your billet 4.0 stroke crank......and where did you get that..????

Talked to an engine builder around my area and he said the 2 bolt engine blocks were probably stronger than the 4 bolt if I put dowels (sp?) in and get the billet caps......unless the 4 bolt is a splayed cap, wich would be better than my 2 bolt........said that the 4 bolt non splayed would take "meat" away from the block and make it weaker...........sounds reasonable to me.....anyone else have any input on this..?

gm performance sells a block, aluminum, that can be anything from 4.0L to 5.0L

it weighs in at a lousey 70+/- lbs.

it is purpose built.... i have not put together a complete engine package but i believe salee chevrolet sells them in some fashion, or can get one for you.

that would be a good place to start, imo.

I'd go with the splayed 4-bolt mains. With the alm. block wouldn't you have to change heads? The Vega used alm. block and Iron heads and it was a very bad idea.

I'd probably get different heads if you were going down that road.

gm performance or salee must have crankshafts for such ideas?

i could've sworn i've seen 2 or 3 places on the net alone that make them.
you should be able to google them.
