IM going to go check out a 2000 Xtreme, its a 4.3 and automatic. What i want to know is, what area's on this engine/trans should i be checking out? What are the short falls of this engine? I already sorta know about the fuel delivery system...anything else? basicly im going to check the engine for any signs of leakage that have been cleaned up. And im gonna be checking wheel bearings, balljoints, u-joints, axle seals...breaks, you know, all that stuff. I really want a good dependable, trouble free, newer truck! haha
Any info would be great! Thanks

i might do something cheap in the ass so its fully layed out, like the ART airoverleaf...but i dunno. For some reason now, i just dont feel like spending more money on it. I would rather have something newer...this X is pretty nice man, ive always wanted an xtreme since they first came out. It looks clean...2/3 drop, flat top canopy, interior is clean as hell. I jsut want something thats gonna be reliable. There is nothing wrong with my old beater, its just old! time for a change i think

well in that case i say go for it. what components were used to achieve the drop? how much are you giving for it? post some pics of it when/if you get it.

2/3 with spindles and blocks...
Im gonna go see if i can get it tomorrow....biggest thing i am concerned about is if they will be willing to finance me! we shall see!

You may want to take a peak at the coolant as well. Heard some horror stories of that Dex-cool coolant turning into sludge. yummy.
definitely the coolant
check the tranny fluid and smell it to see if it smells "burnt"
check to see if it is an 8.5" rearend and has G80 and what gears it has... glove box info fyi.
check it out at night and see if the coil glows and arcs every where too.
and make sure you look down the sides of the truck for body damage.

ahhh
i the dealership wouldnt finance me today for the '00 X. Took it for a test drive tho...and took it to my shop and got it up on the lift. It checked out pretty damn good! it had 1 sloppy u-joint, thats all.
I guess im just gonna have to keep my old truck for a while now...o well. its not that bad.
BTW: thanks for all the input guys
