pita it is

i started installing my center console with a floor shifter today, and let me tell you, it is a pita, especailly when you are trying to use a b and m hammer shifter. i can shift it down all the way to second, but not into 1st. how the heck do you adjust one of those? i took out the little pin to convert it from a 3 speed to a four speed, but i just cna shift it donw that far... any suggestions?

Check the cable for any adjustment.

When you do the adjustment, loosen the adjuster, move the shifter into neutral. Move the shift lever on the transmission into neutral, then relock the adjuster and it should be ok.
