engine quits at stop signs

As I approach stop signs my engine quits. I notice this most happens when the tank is under a quarter full but today it happened at half full. The Chevy shop replaced the fuel filter but that didn't help. Some other interesting items to note. I had the fuel pump replaced 3 months ago without any problems and the vent valve on the fwd top of the tank broke and I have a replacement but haven't put it in yet. Could that be it?
