...anyone know any tricks to make my V6 sound DEEEEP and BUBBBLY??? lol
its pretty damn good now with my Magnaflow, but im wondering if there are any special things i can do to make it better.
BTW: stock manifolds, stock y-pipe, 2" pipe, 14X9 Magnaflow (center/offset) dumped
im thinking of running the pipes out the back (split them into 2) and then into some 3" boom tubes.....

The boom tubes are a definite help for a throatier sound. Just can't quite get past the 2 missing cyls. when it comes to sound.
But I really like it when people get that weird look on their face and say "What engine ya' got in there?" not quite realizing the sound.

I have 2" y-pipe, high flow cat, 2 1/2" or 3" pipe, Flowmaster knockoff w/dual 2 1/2" outlet dumped right after. Damn things sounds like an eight but moves like a six. Same here, everybody thought I had an eight, even when I'm cruisin' around. People always want to race me. I never back down, nomatter who/what it is.

I wouldn't put this in the "tricks" category, but I just put a Magnaflow muffler on my 4.3 and it produces a low, throaty sound. It gave it lots of low-end power without an objectionably ricey or noisy sound. I tried to get a sound bite with my PDA but it didn't do it justice.

Sorry to bring up a old post. but i have what ti believe is a flowmaster 40 series it sounded pretty decent but after my injectors kinda melted on me the cat was kinda clogged and i just hallowed it out... truck sounds alot deeper and has a more aggressive tone .. if u happen to run across an extra cat try it but make sure u got an extra when it comes time to smog it
haha well mine roars, thats what 185,000 miles will do to ur exhaust haha, ill get a clip of the truck before i install new exhaust tomorrow.

I have a flowmaster 40 series with 2 3/4 pipes. I have replced the stock cat with a 2 stage instead of the stock 3. it sounds like a camaro....
I do plan on chopping the cat off for a better sound, not performance.

what the hell is a boom tube, and will one work on my single exhaust? How exactly do they work?
I know this thread is kinda old.
But someone on another board made a recording of a 266AHR with flowmasters and it sounded really good (was on a tbi 4.3). Sounded like a sb v8.
Didn't have a ****ty v6 "after-rumble" like you usually hear.

Ive got edelbrock TES headers with y-pipe 3" pipe from there no cat into a flow 40 single in dual 2.5" out and dumped behind rear axle. Sounds mean as hell. On idle almost everyone thought it was a v-8. But as soon as i start rollin then you know its a 6!!
