Hey guys I bought Castrol Synthetic Oil for my 99 blazer. It has a 4.3 vortec and i am wondering if i can use synthetic for my truck. i have 120,000 miles on my truck right not but still runs like the first day i bought it. I use to put Penzoil but did a motor flush and decided to use castrol. My friend told me that i need to know if my truck can use it so i am not sure to use it or what just get regular oil that isn't synthetic> Thanks a lot

I wouldn't. Why are you considering it?

I dont know about your case, but in an older engine you dont wanna run synthetic if it burns oil because it will foul out the spark plugs, synthetic dosent "burn" like conventional.

I wouldn't because it has too much mileage. Mine has 175,000 on it and I use Castrol or QS 10W40. I use this because it is a little thicker than 10W30 just to lube a little better. That is all I have ever used and I have had no problems. Another thing is that Synthetic is not that thick and could start leaking out of places that normal oil would not.

Which castrol oil should i use, the one i have is 10w 30. There is another one that is called High mileage Castrol maybe that one is better. Should i go higher in thickness or what do you guys suggest. I want to put synthetic because i heard it is great oil so why not have the best on it. Let me know what you guys think

all the high milage, start up formula, my car is old ails are not for real, they are pretty much regular oil for a higher price, just go wth good old regular oil
I use castrol 5w30 start up, because I do a lot of in town driving, as well as short distance driving. For filter I use the Fram high mileage, which is suppose to have a gel in it that will release and help all the seals in the motor. I have 137K on my truck.
