View Full Version : Y Pipe Upgrade

I want to upgrade my current Y-pipe to a bigger less restrictive unit but was unsure what size to upgrade to. My local muffler shop doesn't offer mandrel bending so I was thinking I may need to go a 1\4" bigger than your typical upgrade to compensate for the kinks put in the pipe by the tube bender.
What size would you guys go with?

I see you've got a gutted cat. Why no go ahead and put duals on it?
As far as the Y-pipe, 2.25 would be fine to join the Y. From there I'd go 2.5" or 3".
Who makes y pipes for s-10 trucks? would like to go 2.5

slp used to offer them, but they stopped making them, you will have to get one custom made at an exhaust shop
Doesnt Edelbrock make them to go with their headers? Since they are short tube headers, i would imagine that one could purchase the Y pipe.

No, that won't work. If you look at the edelbrocks, the o2 sensor is on the header, not the ypipe like stock. So the edelbrock headers are longer than the stock manifolds.

Just a thought. You could always weld a bung in there.

Right, but the o2 is in the same location as stock, because the edelbrock header is longer than stock, the edelbrock ypipe wouldn't fit the stock manfolds, and the stock y pipe wouldn't fit the edelbrock headers.
