Ti-Tech headers (http://store.summitracing.com/largeimage.asp?part=EDL-67153)

Found them on the Summit site. I was looking for some on my '98 4.3 and saw these at a MUCH cheaper rate than the others (Gibson, JBA) and they are supposed to be ceramic coated as well. One thing I noticed in the compatibility is that they are for '98 CPI only models.

Do any of you folks here know or have any experience with these headers???
For the price and materials included, I would LOVE it if they worked!

That's the exact kit that I just installed on my truck and I love it! Compliments my supercharger vey well. Alot smoother and faster acceleration.

Ok good. I was wondering if this was going to work or not. It's weird how some sites will say one thing works for your particular model/yr truck but then another site contradicts that.
And just to get this straight....they ARE ceramic coated, correct? Given the price and the Ypipe and fittings they supply, I do not know why anyone would go with the Gibson or JBA at almost 300 more!!

That is a neat looking set of headers.

I like my full length Hedmans for less than half that price;) .

Don't know about compared with the LT Hedmans' but Vs the JBA's the Edelbrocks are great. The Edelbrocks are known as Tri-Y's. There longer tubes provide more low-end and there larger dia. adds more top-end, and the Y-pipe is a huge improvment over stock. And yes there ceramic coated.

Awesome. Those will be my choice then. I think I will have a local shop install them for me. I have neither the tools nor the area in which I can do this or enough experience to get it done within a weekend. I would rather pay to have it professionaly done to avoid any of my screwups. :D

Now to start pawning off crap to pay for 'em!!

I did mine myself and it is alot of work. If you decide to do it yourself plan for the whole day to the install. If you have the money to install them it is worth it.

i think those R edie's new version of their TES headers..they look pertty good.
You'll never get me to install a set of headers on an S truck again. Once was
enough for me..

I don't think I will be doing them on my own. I keep hearing how much of a pain they are to install. I'll spend the extra $200 or so to have a shop do it in less time than what I could do it.

A shop will probably bill you for 'Remove and replace exhaust manifolds' to install headers. I had a shop do half mine (the driver's side of course!) and paid about $150 for that. Luckily I knew a guy with a shop that let me do the passenger side and split the bill. Still took about 8 hours though.

The biggest problems were the steering shaft and power steering pump bracket on my 1st gen. My y-pipe was already cut and only u-bolted on since I ran exhaust about a month before.

Please all note > power steering pump bracket
Since Matt and I have both learned about this lil engineering gem,
if doing a 1st Gen I say CUT IT OFF !.

I don't know about the later yrs, but this F&*%#*G bracket
is one of the most irritating things to deal with, hands down !

Heh, I had to cut mine as well. Cut it where it mounts to the front-most bolt on the #1 primary. We just bent the rear mount out of the way, then back into place. I sure hope GM redesigned that POS by now!

You've got the same TBI engine bgs and I have. So we know they didn't change it by 94 at least. I wonder if it's set up any differently on the 96+ engines. Some of you Vortec guys chime in!

Ya, headers are a pain in the butt to change. I did mine myself, and the worst part was taking the stock stuff out. after everything was removed, the kit bolted on like a dream. Very well designed, the Y pipe fit perfectly to the cat.
