I am trying to replace the FPR on my 99 noma 4.3 and I am wondering exactly where it is. I assume it is under the upper intake but I just wanted to see if anyone knows of anything special you need to do while replacing these things. Anyone know of a good right up or link for this job? Thanks, I appreciatte any help I can get.

It is underneath the upper intake. Held in place by a clip. Be careful, there are 2 orings that like to stay in the injector body. Make sure they are removed and the new o-rings installed.

As far as the seal, some do, some don't. I would, it's cheap and avail. seperately.

Well, actually, I don't always replace it. But then mine got pulled off a lot ;).

The upper intake is sealed with an o-ring. You don't have to replace it but it is recommended.

Well guys thanks for the help I got it all done in a couple of hours on saturday and boy did it make a difference. I no longer have a rich condition, the car starts up right when you turn the key, and it runs a hell of alot better. thanks again.

Hey, irocaholoc. If I can ask, what exactly was your truck doing that made you change the FPR? We are trying to figure out our 97 4.3, and now we are lost. just wondering-thanks.

Well at first it was slow to start. It would take like 5 or 6 secs to fire up,then a day later it was idleing rough. Then about a week later it started stumbling while accellerating from a dead stop. Then the next day the check engine light came on. I went to autozone and had them scan my computer and it said that banks 1 and 2 were runnin rich and I had a misifire. While the car was idle you could smell gas coming out the exhaust from outside of the car. I hope this helps.

Thanks, it helps some. Our truck starts just fine, but revs to 3000+ and bucks and kicks when holding the trottle steady. It can act up on acceleration too. The only time it actually ran good over the past 2-3 tears was when the timing was advanced and the fuel/air mix was rich. I dont know anymore, I am considering the "Goo Gone" to the gas tank, or a ten guage slug to the block. Wonder what damage a handful of small nuts and bolts would do through the intake?
