Is there any REAL benefit in getting a bored out 75mm TB? Is it just a mod to lighten your wallet?
Someone has one on ebay for $99 using the "buy it now" feature and a $40 core return. Was debating on it or not.

Nah, TB flows plenty already. Unless you've got some major mods or forced air.

it's a pretty good investment towads bigger better things. If you do put one on I recomend CFM tech because they really do give you a good increase in top end without F'ing with the comp to bad and you won't suffer with a lean condition if you put a bigger y-pipe, headers and larger mas on your truck as opposed to an engine with a stock TB.

When you say major mods I assume you mean something like a cam and headwork, etc...

Correct and supercharged or something along those lines.

I think it is pointless to get a bigger one.

Answer me this. Can you hit your RPM rev limit without having your truck at wide open throttle?

Put it like this. I run high 12's with a stock throttle body on nitrous. Mid 14's N/A. I've got a cam and better heads going on soon (since I can't sell the damn thing!). It'll be high 13's N/A and low 12's on juice when I'm through.

It'll still have the stock throttle body.

I like Jokers analogy. :D

Ok, got ya.

I guess I was considering one of these since at around 4500rpm, these 4.3's tend to bottom out due to the available air in the plenum just isn't there so to speak. I figured the ability to get more in it (short of forced induction) would help out a little. See what happens when you think!

No, your thinking is on target, just that the throttle body ain't the place to start. A well designed cold air intake, ram style, will really pick it up at full throttle. Compliment that with free-flowing exhaust and you just picked up 15-30 hp.

Are there any ram type setups for the 4.3's? Not much room to work with to get one going.

The fall is due to the actual intake plenum itself. As far as ram air.... fabrication is the only way to go that I know of.

there is a spacer you can put between the lower manifold and upper plentum. I had put one one my truck before I sold it and never got around to dynoing it, but it really gave it seat-of-pants grunt. It still wount do as well as replaseing the manifold all together, but it was really worth the money I spent on it(of course I got a substantian discount for being the guinee pig).

bvr775, did you have the one from Street and Performance. I wanted to try that out but didn't know if it would be worth it. Did you ever go to the track or anything? Any good evidence to the gains it gives? Mostly, I want to know if it pulls harder from like 3500 rpm or so up.

Here it is (http://www.streetandperformanceelectronics.com/lead.htm)

The Vmax spacer on the left. Notice a bit of a drop in the upper RPM's. Not much but a drop none the less.

Also, it's pretty pricey!!
