Turning the exhaust down gives it a different tone as the sound bounces off the pavement. Takes some of the hiss out.

In Your Opinion, do you think it is worth it?

I have always turned mine down where appropriate. The Blazer has 'em straight out the sides so the turndown wasn't possible. All my other cars (including racecars) are turned down. I think it sounds better and the sound doesn't carry for 6 city blocks like the Blazer (alerting you-know-who).

But of course! ;)

It really depends on where you "aim" the exit.

The Chevelle (454) has them turned down right in front of the rear axle directly under what used to be the back seat. Talk about pulses! I like it though.

the blazer i just bought has the mufflers finishing before the diff so i could put turndowns right there but ... its a mostly stock 350 so it maybe wont beat that hard

Depends on headers and cam. Both make it pulse harder.

Stock? Eh, still sound good, can't help it. It's a small blck Chevy. ;)

I had turndowns and it did sound good on the 4.3, but the droning noise on the hyway drove me nuts so I redid the exhaust. there should be some pics in the gallery. Also if you like to hear your music don't do it.

Ya, I've had both on my truck. When I bought it, it had dual boom-tubes exiting out the back angled towards oposite corners (as seen in my sig pic if you can make it out). This summer I installed stepshavers and Headers/Y pipe so I had to redo my exhaust. I put on dual turndowns, exiting on either side of the license plate tag, and in my opinion, I like the sound of the turndowns better. Sounds a bit meaner, and isn't as loud and obnoxious. (but it's still plenty loud, if you know what I mean) Like Sparky said, the sound doesn't carry as far.

just a question how do you install the turn down tip if you have a regular exaust? how would you mount it on the hoop to keep up your exaust?

its a tip that clamps onto the tailpipe of your existing exhaust

With just a regular stock, side swept exhaust? I would cut about 3 inches or so off of the end of the tail pipe and then either weld on or clamp on the turndown. (most exhaust tips come with set screws that you just tighten up to clamp it to the tail pipe)
