ok, im not very good with suspension stuff, but i know i want to lower my 2002 blazer, i want to see if anyone here had some suggestions for how much to lower it.. I was thinking 2"/3 or 3"/4, if i did that, what the best way to do it would be. thanks guy.

3/4 is always sexy...but so is 2/3

2/3:

spindles up front, drop leafs in back

3/4:

spindles and 1" coils up front, 3" drop leafs in back with a 1" block.

Remember, coils don't work on 4-wheel drive :D

But I've got no idea what all is involved with dropping 4WD with our IFS differential, never wanted to do it. Rear would be the same with drop leafs and blocks.

you have some keys at the end of the torsion bars and they change with the drop you want the lower ive sawn was 3inch in front but sowhere in the forum somoene had posted that his friend just had a nut welded there and it sat like 1 or 2 inches from the ground

Cranking the torsion bars too much up or down is hell on your ball and CV joints. I belive there are control arms for dropping 4wd, I've even seen adjustable coilover conversions that get rid of the torsion bars altogether. I think the CV joint angles are more of a problem when lifting than lowering, but it's still something to keep in mind. It will still put the steering knuckles out of alignment when you adjust the t-bars (because it moves the lower control arm up or down), thus causing excess balljoint wear.

only heard of torsion keys for lowering a 4x4

i saw some custom application with air .. but it doesnt mater the way you drop it torsion bars or air or .... it will damage the cv joint if you bind them too much .. take the degre exaple 23degre above and put it 23degree below and match the rear and then you should be ok or think of a way loll

since there are no known prefab control arms available for lowering a 4x4 blazer ,you have to build control arms if you want to lower a 4x4 to get the proper steering geometry back. You can however get 3" lowering keys.

I had only heard of keys for lifting, not for lowering. But then again, all my research had been into lifting :D

Far as I know they don't make lift keys for S-trucks tho. I stopped in a truck shop a few years back when I had the money to drop on a lift and they told me that's what they ususally used for the fullsizes along with blocks in the rear and new control arms. Also told me all they could get for S-trucks was the 5" Trailmaster, more than I wanted.

so basically to lower the 4X4 is hell?

It's not impossible, but most people who wanna lower a S-truck start with a 2WD cause it's much easier. If you're gonna go forward with it, make sure you do some research. I can't be a lot of help for lowering, but I know there are some lowered 4WD's around here somewhere!

its not hell .. its the same keys that you saw to lift it but they drop it in front ! the only thing is that with these keys you can lower 3inch maximum without going custom ..

well, all i wanted to do was lower 2" front and 3" rear... would that be possible?

yes it is possible. A lot of people do it because the key only cost 50-60 bux, it will mess up your steering geometry making it impossible to keep an alignment and put your half shafts and ball in a bind. This doesn't mean they're going to break as soon as you do it, but they will wear at a quicker rate. It will also wear the inside tread of your front tires very quickly.

sounds like if i do it.. it will only be for show purposes not for driving... i sappose ill just let that come when my blazer turns into a show car. ;) and instead, ill just get flowmasters.
