View Full Version : Engine perameters?
Does anyone know where I can find all the engine parameters for 4.3 X? I need at least the fuel trim, manifold absolute pressure, things like that. I got a carchip E/X and want to see if everything is reading right. thank you.

You're going to need a scanner to monitor the parameters. Digimoto is one that I have used in the past and is very inexpensive.
The Carchip E/X moniters the parameters I choose, and then I can veiw them when I download it to the computer. That is why I want to find out what they should be. I have what my truck is showing, I just want to cross check it. We are at a loss for the problems with it, and no codes are comming up. We had a P0108, but I think the code was old. We had gotten that code about 2 months ago, and made some repairs so the light went out. I cleared the codes for the computer and it has not come back. So all I can think to do is to cross check the readings. Anyone have any other ideas for me? (please)

Your first post was a request to "find" the parameters. I've never used carchip e/x so I'm not sure what it's capabilities are but fuel trim and MAP are parameters any scan tool should show.
As far as "normal" readings, fuel trim is expressed as a percentage. A minus percentage indicates a rich condition (subtracting fuel) and a plus percentage indicates a lean condition (adding fuel). Less than 10% LT Fuel Trim either way is considered normal.
MAP reading should be 14-10" indicating somewhere between 16-20" of vacuum (vacuum is local baro pressure minus MAP).
A description of the problem you're having may help you more as there are some pretty sharp guys here with tons of accumulated experience.
Thank You. The problems I am having are with the bucking and kicking, and high idle. I started the HELP... thread and everyone asked about codes. I have no codes other than the old P0108 that was fixed and cleared. It has not come back again. We have changed more things than we can count and are going to get the fuel injection upgrade and put in a new exaust. other than that-we dont know.
Here is a reveiw:
Intermittent high idle after start up (2500+) and when putting in clutch, misfire, throttle seems to stick (feels like we have cruise control), and vehicle bucks/kicks/surges bad when holding throttle steady, popping sound from exaust.

Sounds kinda like a bad distributor cap. They are notorious for water dripping on top of them from the low pressure line that runs right above the cap.
we have done that already along with many others. we now are getting a p1133. going to check that out. thanks

P1133 is Bank 1 Sensor 1 O2 sensor not switching.
Which sensor is Bank one, sensor 1? I beleive it should be in the "Y" pipe, but driver or passanger side? we have already replaced two of the sensors.

Bank 1 is drivers side. Always corresponds with #1 cylinder.
thank you. in the y pipe?

Yes sir. In the y-pipe.
Thank you (also, I am a female. Not many people are realising that.)
Thank you for your help.
