well i raced a 85 silverado yesterday w/ a 350 750 CFM holley, MSD HEI ignition, the works. anywho he had me by a carlength and a half. needless to say he blew his up racing me. ripped the clutch fan off and it tore off all the drive belts and hoses. so dont put down the 4 banger just yet.
you won by luck, dont count on it happinin again

Have someone let the air out of his back tires while you're lining up. Might change the outcome. Might....

yea i know my chances arent im my favor, but im not going down without a fight, i hope to use his lack of driving skillas against him. like the "its cool to spin tires the 1st 60 ft" yea he looks cool, but i have the advantage of not spinning a tire. im looking at a used sneaky pete system for that little extra boost of power. but what happens happens. i cant change a thing, but im sure he will think twice about taking me on in the 03 ZQ8 with the 383 stroker and Super Pro Powerglide. anywho he can have my ex g/f, i got rid of her for a reason. now all that mess is his problem. thanks guys for the reality check.

I always have a great deal of respect for going down for a fight. Knowing the odds are against ya'.
Good luck.
Like the kids say these days, "pump up the jam", or "bring the noise'
A hint. Take your bed off. You will feel so much faster. Thats what I did. (for other reasons though)

yea im gonna take off the bed, wont look good, but that mass wont be there. i know im not the fastest but i think i might have a chance to win if he screws up. just knowing that fact, ill take my chances. and give it hell.

exactly, also check his car out to make sure he has no hidden suprises ya know?
you could just tell him you took it off to paint the frame. I went ahead and did that while mine was off

I wouldn't take the bed off.Our trucks already are to light in the ass end.You said it was a two barrel so it must be a base 326 V8 with 250-horsepower.Those engines though not much on horsepower had plenty of torque. And depending on what tranny and gears he's got chances are they are gonna be low.So he is gonna jump out of the hole good if he knows what he's doing. As much as I am for the under dog I know F bodies and what they will and won't do on the average. And chances are HIGHLY likely he is gonna win unless he's a dumb ass and can't drive. And if so exploit the hell out of that to your advantage. And tell him if he is looking to sell it I would be more than happy to buy it off of him.The first gen Camaros are becoming real hard to find but first gen Firebirds are extremely hard to find.Especially if they still have a Pontiac engine in them. Most people who build them back will put small block Chevy engines in them.Because they make more power for less money and are so universal when it comes to parts.

if he doesn't meet the requirements i.e. license and all that doesn't that mean that you win by default?

well we scheduled this race for after he gets his lisence. so it gives me some time to do some more mods.
Well quit typing here and go do those mods. Good luck :)

Good Luck, but you're toast unless he's runnin' a six cylinder. Then you might stand a chance.
omg ...You guys quit encouraging him. That 2.2 fully moded woun't keep up even if the outher guy races with the parking brake on as long as the 4cyl still has stock enternals.
let me school you newbes alittle cence this hasn'r been brought up cence the demise of the original s10planet. You can't just add the claimed hp rateing of all bolt-ons and say thats how much your putting to the ground. if the cat back claims 9 hp and the intake clames 9hp then you don't bolt 18hp with both. you'll be lucky to get 10hp combined. bolt-on mods have HP ratings on how they will enteract with a stock engine alone in perfect conditions.

umm have you read every post BVR? we al telling him to do it since he is going in with honor, and the reason he is going, we told him that the odds of him winning are as good as the Red Sox winning the world series again, and he understands that

yea not a lot of my mods are simply "bolted on" i took some time to do the mods that i saw fit, some things un-conventional to the 4 cyl s-10 world, im not going in expecting a 100% win rate, this will be a test of driving skills, and his additional horsepower against my past racing skills will put us close in the beginning. i dont just race my old 2.2, i have raced a few camaros, and a 4.3 s-10, which is now getting a 383 stroker motor, i have turned many perfect reaction times and damn close. and still can maintain a 1.6 sec 60ft time, which for a lot of cars isint easy, its not the car, its the driver. thats what this is truely going to be a test of. well to us at least

id love to join the HRA, im currently in the IHRA, because around here in virginia there arent any NHRA tracks, once we get the 383 stroker in the 03 zq8 ill be more active in racing, right now im nowhere in the points race. but that will all change next season. but there are rumors ive heard around that Richmond VA Motorsports Park is going to join the NHRA. so ill have to wait and see on that. thanks mrmidnight
