Well I finally got the goat to the strip this weekend.I had a ton of fun.The best time for the night was 13.431 at 106.84 1.99 60'.It was a decent night for racing not hot but not cool almost perfect.I raced a 05 Mustang GT and won, raced a 99 WS6 and won, raced a 04 STR4 and won, raced a 01 Camaro SS and lost. But the SS wasn't stock by any means and I am fine with losing to a F body. There was a nice supercharged C6 burning up the track with low 10 second times. After being at the track I am rethinking selling it or trading it off lol.I will posts some slips soon.

That's outstanding. Ma-in-Laws 05 Auto went 13.87 @ 101.97 but it spun like crazy (2.23 60'). Forgot my helmet so I only got one pass :(
That stick shift of yours really pulls the mph!

There was an 04 auto GTO running 12's with a lot of bolt ons, slicks, and tuning.Check this I just found out my 6 speed had tq management. All 05 GTO's and I think 04's too have tq management pulling as much as 15 degrees of timing away. That just sucks ass!!I am looking at editors to do some programming and TM will be the first thing to go.Still waiting on LS2 edit but there are some others on the market I'm looking at too.

i thought it would be faster then that......what is the weight on that car?.....just saying my buddies stock '01 ws-6 ls1 did 13.5 at 105 trap speed.....thought the ls2 would be quicker....

They seemed to have de-tuned the crap out of 'em (mostly torque management).
Guys that do just a tune on the 04's (mine) are seeing mid to low 13's and the 05's (Maximus') are seeing high 12's to low 13's.
With a tune only.........

No time slips...........................
:(Sorry I have no scanner but a friend of mine is supposed to get them scanned and sent to me.Once he does I will post them.i thought it would be faster then that......what is the weight on that car?.....just saying my buddies stock '01 ws-6 ls1 did 13.5 at 105 trap speed.....thought the ls2 would be quicker....Actually mine is one of the faster GTO's around. They are not as fast as a Fbody plus they weight almost 500 pounds more than a Fbody does to.A stock GTO runs mid to high 13's stock on the average.A stock 2001 WS6 will run low 13's to high 12's on the average and this is well known.Which is why most die hard Fbody guys don't like the GTO it just isn't faster than a Fbody which was what everyone expected when they came out.I knew that when I bought one.Which is why I am selling the goat.I had been thinking about it for awhile but only lately decided on it.I know I have not had it long but it just doesn't do for me what a Fbody does.I have a buyer for the GTO now and with what I have left over I am buying a newer Fbody. Are they as nice a car as the GTO no.Are they faster than the GTO stock for stock yes they damn sure are.The car just doesn't fit me.Most people look at it as a luxury car and is basically is just one with some good power. So this week some time I am hoping to have a new Fbody back in the drive way.I might be making a mistake but I don't feel I am.The GTO just isn't me and doesn't portray me like I wan it to.People see it and when a 210 pound tattooed all over guy gets out it just doesn't fit.So when I find a Fbody I want the goat is gone.I change cars like some do underwear lol.

Hehe, I don't have that problem. 42 yrs. old, grey hair, 2 kids. I look cool as **** getting out of the GTO.
Especially after thrashing around town :D
Old people should have to take public transportatoin. Thats you sparky. I think they have a bus or a van for you old guys

Don't get me wrong it's a great car and when it comes to build quality it's one of the best GM has put out.Fit and finish smooth. The interior is roomy and makes for a comfortable ride. But I miss a Fbody and they are faster and can out handle my goat.I know I have owned more than a few 4th gen F cars and they all handle better than the GTO.But the GTO has some very nice features. And I just feel like having a Fbody back.Give GMPP awhile and they will have a crate LS2 for sale and when they do I will be waiting.Or I might just do a complete LS6 conversion.A stock LS6 will get me to the 400hp mark and after that my goals only go higher lol.

F-Bodies rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....i thought the gto might weigh a lil less....f-bodies are just long.....didn't know it weighed more....good call on the f-body instead of the goat.....and while on gto's....what is the story behind the tiger thing and gto's? i always see tigers or tails hanging out of there trunks at car shows and have heard many different stories so can someone clarify?
Correct me if I am wrong old guys, but the first markeing ploy was to "Unleas the tiger within" or something like that. Then they had a tiger jump into the engine compartment of a gto and the car drives off.

Well the deal might be done in a few days.I am down scaling I guess you can say year wise. But faster none the less.I am in the possible process of buying a 99 SS Camaro that will not only scorch your ass in the 1/4 mile but you better have good eye sight to see around corners to see it.First off I know it is fast because he lit my ass up in it against my GTO.i didn't even wanna try cornering because stock to stock F body will win. It's slick black on black/red.Ohhh is it one sweet as car.So if the deal goes down I will update.

Just think what a 427 small blockwith 500 hp stock would do in a f-body.

Well I thought I should update this thread a little. The GTO is gone. The sale was finalized today. But I have not replaced it yet.I had a buyer that wasn't gonna wait long so I went through with it.So now all I have is my S10 which I'm fine with for now.I come out good on the sale with my trade in and what kind of deal I got on the GTO.The reason I have not replaced it yet is because I am stuck on a few different cars I am interested in.I am looking at a 99 SS Camaro,2000 Firehawk, and a 01 SS Camaro. It was tough enough choosing between those three all of which are far from stock and fast as hell but something else came in to the picture that has me debating. It's a sweet 69 black Z28 Camaro that has seen some costly modifications. The original 350 engine and tranny are gone.Replaced with,or upgraded in my opinion with a LS1 and T56 six speed removed from a 01 SS Camaro. The owner done it up right and you would almost think it came factory if you didn't know better. The LS1 has been rebuilt and has some substantial work done to it put down 365hp to the rear wheels. All of the suspension, brakes, and rear have been updated and upgraded. And it runs on 17 inch TQ thrust 2 rims. The thing I like about the car is he drives the car frequently. He says at least 4 times a week.He said he didn't build it for a race car or a show car he built it as a muscle car that was fast but reliable enough to be a daily driver. He even claims it gets from 15 to 19 mpg.Th car isn't flawless by any means it has a few blemishes like a daily driven car would have. All of the original parts like the engine tranny etc have been sold so no going back to stock. Some die hard gear heads hate that but it isn't a issue to me.The car is nice and I might try to get it but it ain't cheap as you could imagine.I'm not gonna rush in to a buying anything and plan to look around some more. But when I get something I will post up.

I must say I am debating it big time but just don't know if I wanna invest the cash he is asking on it.Is it worth it hell yeah in my opinion but still a healthy amount of money to invest and with me resale potential is a must lol!!Some die hard guys don't think a first gen in good shape should have anything but a factory restore done to them.Others like me think that taking advantage of current technology that improves over the older is always a good thing. And as much as I change cars I have o look at the over all resale or long term value will be lmao. But who knows I might find something tomorrow that I just have to have and buy it.I have never been one to keep a vehicle for very long.I get bored or get a urge to take on a new challenge. To be honest I have had my S10 longer than I have most of my vehicles.I don't see me parting ways with it anytime soon. It's my old faithfull that rarely let's me down and takes a beating and keeps on streeting.Well except for right now.I run in to a few problems with the new engine install and am having to wait on parts.I HATE WAITING!!I want **** yesterday lol. It's the first and only S10 I have ever owned. And if something ever happens to it i will definitely replace it with another one.I like the trucks that much. But anyway I will update when there is a update lol.

I'm with ya' on that one. Taking the old school look and installing new school tech is cool as hell. My 65 'vette has a 200R4 for that very reason. I can run 3.73's for get up and go and shift into OD for cruising at 80-100 without sweating it.
Just curious, how steep is the Z? Under 30k?
Maximus
10-05-05, 08:32 PM
Yes under 30k more around the 20k.I won't say exactly how much but if I do try to make a offer I'm gonna try and get the price a bit lower than what he quoted me.The car is worth every penny he is asking easy.Just the LS1 T56 swap alone is one very good chunk of change.Just look around at prices for some of the aftermarket parts needed for the swap and add that on top of the engine tranny price and it gets pricey quick.Year One was one vendor he used for a lot of the swap parts needed.Go look at prices on stuff for the LS1 swap on their sight. Not bad but not cheap. But there was also a whole lot of custom work done by the owner that is top quality in my book.So we will see.It does sound good though doesn't it.A 69 Z28 LS1 6 speed.Just kinda rolls off the tongue very well lol.

Weird I just saw my old goat a couple of days ago.It actually looks nicer with new 18 and 19 inch rims on it and a some aftermarket body kit of some sort.Cant describe it but it looked clean and nice looking.I got to play with him a bit im my TA which is of course alot faster than him lmao!!But it is also as fast as it is gonna get for awhile.I have spent my limit on the car not only from view but the boss ladys to.She said it's her turn so she wants either some new rims and extras for her car or go looking to trade it in for something new.She even had the nerve to ask me if she could get a new Mustang GT.I said BLASPHEMY WOMAN HOW DARE YOU!!lol I laughed and told her sure I would love to see another Mustang GT that the TA could play with. She didnt find it as funny lol.But anyway it's her turn now so mine is done for awhile.
