I'm running a single Kicker Impulse 12i. Rated for 75 WRMS, but I'm pushing it with a Kicker 652xi amp -- 180 WRMS.

Sub is speced out to need 1.5 cubic feet, I've got it in just over .8 cubes. Needs the extra power and handles it nicely.

How do I like it? It's loud, it's clear, and it hits hard -- but it could still be louder. But, considering I've only got 22 WRMS pushing my front array (door speakers only for right now -- long story), any more bass and I wouldn't be able to hear anything BUT bass. So, it works for what I've got. Hits like I've got 2 12s back there.

Warning: don't try this kind of install at home! I'm a (formerly) certified professional (MECP lapsed in '00). LMFAO!

The best subs around here aren't available any more: Dexter's. Those were the best, but they closed down.

Now, we've got a number of options -- the best being W.G. Grinders. Hardening-of-the-arteries in a nice tin-foil wrap!

Yellow sub in Lawrence has the best turkey club. It is made with fresh meat, they fry the bacon in front of you. Then they take it and bake it. Ohhhhh, little ranch dressing on it and it is like sex. Only without all the talking afterwards

Reviving an old thread that can be useful for posting real-world opinions and info about subs. In the S10 since 2003, Ive had R.Fosgate HE 10" in a sealed and ported enclosure. Sealed it was nice and tight and played driving rock n roll bass very accurately. In the ported enclosure it was just as at home, still giving the tight bass punch of rock but allowing both driving low techno and deep reverbing rap bass to be clean. But there were some areas that the 10" sub just couldnt accurately reproduce or it would fall off dB. Size Matters!! Moving on, I decided to cram a 12" sub in there. I chose the then new R.Fosgate P2-12-S4. I also had the DVC version in as well (P2-12-D2). Both were identical in the outcome of their trials. I felt they didnt posess the quqlity of the older RF subs. Being a dealer, it was evident in the amount of blow-sub-swaps. I had a few myself. I had them in a sealed box 1st that was a little bigger than needed. The punchy bass wasnt there but enclosure size was most likely the factor. However they didnt even meet my expectations with that in account. After porting the box (which was the orig intent of the design), they woke up and played a decent range of music well. Not perfect but decent. Seems the sub is very finnicky of the enclosure design. In installing them in many different vehicles, Ive come to a realization that a ported 1.25ft.3 box with a 4" x 13.5" round port was the best performance with the close RMS power applied. After that I got a JL10W3 sub free for doing a job. I made a 10" to 12" adapter ring and fit it in the previous ported box. As expected and from my JL experiences, she was right at home. This 10 will make a liar out of anyone who says you cant 'drop it like its hot' with a 10" sub! Even with being thrown in the ring used and in a enclosure designed for a different sub, I was impressed. Having the desire for an older 'black' R.Fosgate HE/HE2 sub, I set out to find a new-old-stock sub. I went ahead and designed a new enclosure for it to the specs that I wanted. Since I was re-vamping the entire audio setup, I put the sub on the pasenger side (orig on the drivers) and made a new amp rack for the Xtant A4004 I had gotten to replace the RF P5002. I also had found a working old school Orion HCCA225 to replace the RF P6002. BTW, the RF amps are great. Needed to repl the mid/high 2ch with a 4ch and couldnt pass up the HCCA. Putting the RF P12 in the HE2 box until I found a HE2, it performed good. I got a Boston Acoustic PRO12.5 sub and tried it out. Knowing the Boston product all to well, I knew the enclosure wasnt going to make it a happy home. The PRO12.5 is desgned for gobs of power and a small sealed enclosure. I had power but not the right enclosure. At lower volumes, the Boston was soooo clean and tight as expected. But didnt fair well SQ-wise at higher volumes. After I got the RF HE2, I put it to the test. From experience with these, I knew close to what to expect, but with the S-10s tight space I wasnt so sure I could achieve my desires. But to my shegrin, it performed flawlessly! I havent found a way to tune it out of its range, I havent found been able to put it to the edge, it has taken the power Im giving it and used it to delight my ears, and being I like alot of different music styles its perfect. I still have the Boston PRO12.5 and unless I sell it soon, would like to build an appropriate enclosre to see how it will do in the S-10. I also have a Boston PRO10.4 in near perfect condition on my hands to try out one day. Hope this sparks some interest in my reviews. Hope some of you are able to post up some more of your own too.

I run 2 kicker 10"s which are great. Some songs really lack bass but you've got to take in consideration the music you listen to as well. Like rock music <what I listen to> isn't necessarily going to put out the bass say, a rap song would. Depends on the song though. Ya know. haha.

What kinda subs are y'all running and how do you like them?

Are you looking for people's experience because you want to buy something? If so I have a 10" Kicker CVR DVC Sub for sale if you're interested. They hit pretty hard, they aren't top of the line or anything, but I like mine. I had one exact same model and everything and then upgraded to two and now I have an extra brand new for sale. I also have a 150 watt RMS kicker mono amp for sale. It's used but in great condition. The two together actually didn't sound bad but with my rock music I wanted a little more bass than I was getting through the amp and 1 sub. I run my two 10"s with a 600 watt RMS Rockford Fosgate Mono Amp. They have good deals on their online store.

I was trying to sell the two together but if you're interested in maybe picking up 1 or even 2 10"s, I could sell you mine and you could always pick up another. Let me know. Just thought i'd offer, I don't know if you're even looking, so.

Yeah. I was just going back to find and filter all the useless old threads that have dead links and BS for my section. I found this one and thought it could be an asset to the members. Kind of a first hand review for sub product. Ive been knocking around some ideas for the Electronics section that could benefit you guys. I am going to start working on some helpful stickys and info for members to take advantage of and hopefully it can be of some help one day. If any of you have any input about this section, please PM me with your thoughts. Try not to post them here or on a tread. Its best to just shoot me a short PM note. Anyone have any product experience or opinions with subs, please leave your review here for others to take a gander at. Peace out =)
