I know it says for 2.8 but
Will these work on 4.3s ??

Are there any physical differences between a 2.8l rocker and a 4.3l rocker?
It says it will fit a 10mm stud.. . Was looking at the possibility of getting these
as a drop in for the increased lift, without having to do the SAE 3/8" stud conversion.

If anyone could help i'd great appreciate it

thanks!

Hey John, spend the extra $70 and get the scorpion full rollers. They are self aligning and are a direct fit.

Better yet, I've still got my 4 extra from a V-8 set. Find 2 other guys to split 2 V-8 sets 3 ways and I'll donate mine to make 3 full V-6 sets.

Arnt they for a 3/8" stud though? I think u were tellin
me about retapping the heads for the stud one time.

I really wasnt looking forward to doing the stud conversion
or any of that. That y I was looking for metric 1.6 that might
just "drop in" in a sense.

Was planning on getting these for my new truck, when I
come accross it that is. lol

That's true, they do require the stud conversion. Dammit.

Wonder, Are the 2.8's standard rockers the same as small-block rockers?

If they were I would probably be able to use these wouldnt I?

Hmmm... don't know. I do know they are thinner to accomodate being closer together. As far as fit, I'd take a look first and measure.

The biggest prob. is the non-adjustable valvetrain. I just can't see doing any kind of rocker or cam work and leaving it non-adjustable. Too many variables. And it ain't that much work. You could easily do the whole deal in a weekend.

Thats the problem I dont/wont have whole days to have the truck down.
I have a 7day work/school week doesnt let up. :(

That gave me an idea. I don't think it will work though. I cross refferenced the rockers off of a '90 4.3, and 2.8. Different part numbers.

1990 60* rocker
14002446
This does cross refference to a 2.0 engine though.

1990 4.3 rocker:
10089648
these of course cross refference to v8's.

Looked it up here:
http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/partsvoice/frameset.cfm
Under 1990>s10>mechanical(default is collision)>head and valves

I remember reading a couple years ago about a guy using the comp 1.6 rocker and the stock adjuster nut and pivot ball. I don't know if i would trust it personaly due to the wear of the rocker and pivot ball. I would have probably read it over on s10f.

You would have to tap the heads if you had press in studs. Some heads also came with 10mm bolts and some with 8mm. There's conversion studs for both. If you had the press in studs, I believe you can use those 10mm rockers, as the valvetrain is adjustable. If not, you need the conversion studs, and rockers for a 3/8 stud.

Let me clear this up a bit. I used the regular sbc screw-in studs. They are a 7/16 NC stud. The factory 4.3 stud is 10mm. I had to tap out the 10mm to 7/16". The sbc studs are bad cheap.

The conversion studs are a 10mm base with the same post for the rockers to fit on. The conversion studs are also extremely pricey.

BUT, the conversion studs would solve John's time problem. Screw out the factory studs then screw in the conversion studs and VOILA! fully adjustable valvetrain.

Although they hit the pocketbook kinda' hard. ;)

Mine were $70 for a set of 16, not all that expensive.

That's not bad at all.

Where did you get them? summit, jegs?

I got mine from a local speed shop. They're cheap, so we usually pay in CDN the same amount as Summit prices. Looks like they're $70 at summit as well. ARP part #134-7201 for 8mm. The 10mm are ARP 100-7201 (only 45ish, but not sure how many you get prolly 12)

did you notice a big difference from changing the rockers?

subvelocity

You can certainly notice it, but it's not a huge difference. It did make the cam sound a little more lumpy. Whats up in Winnipeg? I was out there a couple months ago

That was my experience. A bit more lumpy. But, WOT exhaust noise was definitely louder and I got another 150-200 rpm's out of it.

Ok. A little more RPM would be nice. Is it worth the trouble if you just have a stock cam?
Not too much happening in Winnipeg. Will probably be putting the truck away for the winter soon. :(
