A few months back my stock head unit starting acting twitchy, turning off at random, so I got a replacement on eBay. No difference in sound, but this one doesn't turn itself off. HOWEVER, this one keeps spitting out the tape adapter I use for my CD player. Tried the "Intro to your 91 Blazer" tape that came from the dealer (yes, it's still in the glovebox), wouldn't play that either. It switches a side, b side, a side, b side, and ejects. Yesterday morning on the way to the paintball field it kept spitting it out, but we were on an unpaved road, so I just ignored it. On the way back it was working though. Today it's back to ejecting.

I figure there must be some kind of sensor in there that tells it to cycle sides, then eject, but I'm not sure what to check. Any ideas?

I've said it before, I'll say it again. No.
I've seen too many windows broken and stereos stolen to want something worth anything. If you haven't noticed I go for function over appearance, so I could care less about having a hot system, just one that works. Discman has been working for me since 1998, until yesterday.

Still hoping someone knows something about these radios.

There's a couple of Delco service centers in Texas. The guys I deal with here in Florida are pretty cool. Give 'em a shout, see if they won't help out.

I'm with you on the fancy radio deal. Got talked into it early this year. Guy wanted a 350 4 bolt core I had. Said he'd put me in a nice JVC, amp and speakers. Matter of fact, mrmidnight did the install for me. I wasn't really into it but figured it was a good trade.

Got ripped last month. Inside my fenced compound. Thank God I didn't have my doors locked. One of my vans for sale did. Ripped the door handle out of the door to get in. Hit 4 cars there. Never again for me.

my 98 does the same thing, i had to clean the cassette head and it worked for a little while. after that i just beat the dashboard. hey, it worked. but now i just have a FM transmitter that plays my walkman on 88.1 FM. crystal clear. i used to use it on my ipod. till it stopped working, ipods dont like to be dropped. but try the cassette head cleaner and if that dont work go for the fm transmitter, 30 bucks and it will work in every car you drive.

I finally had time today to take the radios apart, and I just pulled the tape deck from the 91 radio and put it into the 93. The tape decks are actually made by Blaupunkt, didn't know that.

The internal bracketry changed a bit between 91 to 93, the 93 was MUCH easier to take apart. It only required removal of the bottom cover (3 screws) and 4 screws to hold in the radio. The 91 required removal of the bottom, side and top cover, all for a little 3/16" screw that you can't get to without complete disassembly. So at least Delco recognizes when they've overcomplicated something! :D An interesting note, due to design changes, the 91's deck will fit into the 93, but the 93 will NOT fit into the 91 with some modification (dremel, pliers)

Anyhow, results: I've now got a working radio and working tape deck. I'm going to take the non-working one apart to see what caused the failure. The belts appear to be good, but the 93's are much thinner than the 91's.
