I know that I have driven you guys nuts with the last post...but one question remains to be answered. Out of all of the 1.6 ratio rocker setups...which ones don't require drilling of the pushrod holes and intake removal???
You guys have been awesome...Thanks:D

I haven't done them on the '96 and up heads. Pre 96 there is no problem.

You might look into the SLP rockers -- as far as I am aware, they should be a direct-fit bolt in.

There are two different sets: on for the '96-'99 4.3s that runs around $100 and the other is for the '00+ 4.3s that runs around $300.

Why the price difference? The '96-'99 trucks have stud-mounted rockers, the '00+ are shaft-mounted and the more expensive set includes the shafts.

Sparky, ive been all of these valvetrain threads and to convert a 89 4.3 to be fully adjustable with 1.6 and 3/8' studs there isnt any need for any drilling is there? its all bolt on and will fit under a stock valve cover right?

Yes, an 89 is fully adjustable. The "net lash" started in 92.

so cant we just get the studs from an 89-91 4.3?
If they're available.
lol

They're press in studs. Won't work with higher lift, stronger spring applications.

Old school way used to drill the stud sideways through the cyl. head boss and drive a hardened pin through the boss and stud. We called it "pinning" the stud. These days we just call it "why"? ;)
