I tell you what if you want a good sounding exhaust and don't want to spend much get a Flowmaster 40 Series Original Sound. You can get them brand new from ebay for maybe 50 bucks (I did). Then cut off your stock exhaust and weld the flowmaster in place of the stock muffler. Lastly, turn the exhaust down.

I would imagine that since the Extreme is basically a Zq8 with a body kit, it has to do with the crossmember or the hop shock. I would do like joker says though. Turn downs sound mean as fook.

turn downs sound even better on a lower vehicle because the sound hits the ground then bounces up on the vehicle then back down.... creates a nice vibration

Find an experienced muffler shop and do it how you want.

from what i hear the 40 super is better than the original, but the delta is crap (all of this is hear-say). and obviously try to get the turn downs before the rear axle.

ya there is a couple of muffler shops here in town that could custom make it for me but i was hoping to pocket the installation fee and just use clamps i did that on my old truck (the 2.2l) with the gibson exhaust and it was pretty simple to install by myself.

got it installed today went with a dyno max ultra flow and my own turn down design instead of the common way as the guy said at the muffler shop took the factory tip and cut it off about 2 inches behind the hanger bent a pipe about 80 degrees put it on and cut off the slack so as too not see it unless you crawl under truck and being that my truck is nice and low from the factory :D you can't see it at all and it has a nice mellow growl to it now i do believe that the turn down design is the key though any ideas on headers that will compliment the muffler? not too loud but nice and aggressive is what i want

I had JBA Headers and I didn't really notice very much sound difference after they were added. They were shorties though and I'm sure long tubes would be a different story.

for a 2.2? Ive seen a lot of guys use an Al headder and have good experience.

na for a 4.3l T does the headers really even add to the sound

Absolutely. Longer will add more sound than the shorties, but both will make it sound a bunch better

so i am guessing that a longer header would probably give me a deeper or throaty sound?
