Sunbird Dash in a gen 1??

So this weekend at the junkyard I found 4 Sunbird dashes... will a sunbird dash fit in the gen 1 s10?? I have heard that other people have used them, but they appear to be a different shape... more rounded at the top corners...

As far as wiring, I know the pinout of the s10 plug. I would pull the plug for the Sunbird and wire it up...

i think the dash is a litttttleeee wider in a bird. you'd probly need to section the middle or chop the sides

I thought they used the dash from a Sunbird Turbo in the Sy/Tys? That would lead me to believe it would fit.

I can help with the wiring and connectors but as far as fit, I don't know.

Well, there was 4 of them at the junkyard... maybe I'll go grab one and play around with fit before I get this interior back together....

What I want is an instrument cluster with factory tach and I don't want a digital. I've also thought about building a hybrid cluster using the 88 and back analog with tach & cable speedo and 89 and up analog w/o tach and electric speedo.

That would probably be the easier way. But heck, that Sunbird dash IS pretty cool.

They did use the Sunbird GT turbo dash in the St/Ty trucks.I will look for the web page I had that showed a guy who did the swap.If I am not mistaken it wasn't hard swap and didn't have a lot of work needed.Almost a direct swap if I remember.We could use a regular Sunbird GT dash with out the boost gauge for our trucks.

I grabbed one this weekend... I've got the dash out of the truck so I figured I would work on this at night in my basement. It is a hair wider, but it will sit in the space for the cluster. It is going to be making it look right that is going to be the biggest challenge I think. Plus, it says 3.1L V6 on the tach so I'll have to come up with something to fix that...

I'd love to try to get it in my e-mail, but at home is dial-up and work it funny about e-mails with attachments getting through sometimes... you can try my work e-mail... I'd feel bad about taking up space on the site...
