1989 4.3L running rough please help

I have a 1989 4.3L.I did a complete tune up on it....plugs wires cap rotor fuel filter etc...It ran like a bat out of hell.The gentleman I purched the truck from had put 213 miles on it over the past 2 years.So I figured I should probably do something for the fuel system so I ran som Techron fuel injector cleaner through it.Now it runs like crap.It boggs down and has even backfired a few times.I can go to get on it and it feels like the brake is ingaged(but the brakes are loose)and it hesitates and spits and sputters.If anybody has any suggestions please pass them along.I love my S10 but am getting very discouraged. How many miles did you put on your tune-up before you added the Techron?

How long after adding the Techron did it start running bad?

Check The Fuel Pump . I Had One Fail Recently On A 4.3. It Ran Rough For A Few Weeks And Finally Shut Down Altogether. If U Have A Timing Light Chek That As Well. Also Consider Having The Hei Ignition Module Tested.

Have you checked the spray from the injectors? Has it ever had a throttle body rebuild and clean?

BTW, I don't think Mineral is that far from me... I am in Mineral, VA....

The spray from the injectors seems fine visually.As far as for the rebuild or clean I don't know.I just purchased the truck not to long ago.All I really know about it's it that when I looked at the inspection slip it had only had 213 miles in 15 months.And yes you are right around the corner.I work in Louisa.

I was just wondering if maybe the Techron dislodged a chunk of carbon that may now be clogging something else... I'd suggest rebuilding the throttle body... just a good thing to do on a new-to-you truck even if you aren't having trouble.

If you want I have a spare throttle body from a 1989 4.3L you can use too. It needs a rebuild because it has sat for about 2 years so I am sure the gaskets are bad.

Also how does it idle? Does it only show the problem under load?

When I first start it it idle properly at first then when the idle kicks down it's like it wants to stall out.I was also considering buying the Holley replacement for it,but if I can rebuild it cheaper I'm goint to do that.Auto Zone has them for around $300.00.
