Hey guys i wrecked my truck the other day and i am looking for some advise i personally don't think it is totaled but i am no body man. the bags didn't come out but the pasenger sid is really messed up and for some odd reason the fan shroud is broken but nothing else is out of place under hood my camera ran out of memory half way through the picture taking of it so this is all i have to give keep in mind i will be gone monday evening to go to basic and i will not be taking care of my baby my mother has offered her services while i am gone to get it fixed, though i love her of course she is not as picky as me about my truck!
the one nice pic is from a week before (last time it got a bath)

If that ain't totalled, I'll be surprised.
Dude, If it is. I want you wheels. Sorry to hack at your baby like that.
How the hell did that happen? Im pretty sure it wont buff out.

you seriously think it will be totaled??? if i may ask why?
there are only 2 wheels that can be used the pasenger side 2 are done for
keep in mind this truck was in good condition and is a low milage vehicle 2003 with only 32000 on it and still has warranty till the end of the year
who knows looks like a bunch of damage to the cab
and bed. Is the frame bent?
what happened? looks like u got side-swiped

was going down a steep hill fighting with friend about something and not paying attn to my speed and at the bottom of the hill there is a sharp left turn and i was going way too fast to take it when i turned the back tires lost grip and the rear end started to fish tail so i try to correct it and did so just a little to much then i over corrected again after hitting a dirt enbankment (SP?) and the truck then layed down the passenger side i was on 2 wheels for a second there before landing on the side and grinding to a stop! the tow truck driver said i was leaking all kinds of stuff red (trans) green (have no clue dex a cool is orange) and black liquids from the bottom of truck the driver side is not damaged at all except for a few scratches and a dent from climbing out of the truck while it was on its side
looking at the before and after is almost enough to make any of us cry here at s-10 planet

It looks like a minimum of $4500 upwards to $7000. That's total territory.

lacklyn afb for basic shepperd and charelston for mos training or a school which ever term you use
its a 2003 zq8 with 32000 on it 4.3l auto power everything gray int
no offense sparky but i hope your wrong god do i hope your wrong
and if they do total it out depending on the frame i will try to buy it back and do something with it. although she is wrecked its still way to pristine of a truck just to trash most importantly its an 03 the last great year of the s-10 just to hard to throw it away. on a side note my bud is already trying to sell me his s-10 i don't want his but if any one is intrested in a 2003 zq8 red ext dark gray int auto trans power locks manual window and its a 4.3l with about 70000 on it let me know i believe he is asking 15000 which is way to much with that milage i think

As the older brother, I lay claim to the wheels!!
Seriously though, that sucks. It was a pretty truck. I'll have to try and handle the insurance for him since he leaves Monday. I'll hopefully be able to help convince them to fix it. We'll have to see. Not sure how State Farm (Snake Farm) will handle it.

lol i feel so over joyed gee it almost makes me for get about my truck
wait no it doesn't
on another note a friends dad who is some kind of guru on wrecks looked at my pics and where it happened and came to the conclusion that the only reason it turned on its side is because of the speed i was traveling and the back right wheel caught the pavement at that speed and the force of it all caused it to turn(if you look back at the pics you will see a HUGE indention in the wheel) he said it was basicall like tossing an anchor out and it catching a nice big rock ot something to that extent
but any way thanks for the new blog i feel so honored

I just jumped the line. MUAHAHA! :mischievo
I'm really thinking that they will total out this one. When the insurance guy calls, I'll do what I can to talk them into fixing it.
I'll be damned. The insurance company is going to fix it.

Dayum!
I'm sure he'll be happy when he finds out.
They quoted total repairs @ $8,000.
I am REALLY surprised they didn't just total his truck out.

WOW don't mean to bring this back from the dead. But being a body man I wouldn't touch that unless I bought it as a rebuilder for myself. I take it the frame has to be in almost perfect shape for them to say yes. In most roll overs there is no frame damage or very little at one end of the frame. But that is a lot of damage on a S10 to fix. They wanted to total my 96 in 99 with only 36000 miles on it for 3700 in a front end collision.. If i wouldn't have offered to do it myself they would have.
Like I said, I was surprised they went ahead and decided to fix it. everything seems like it is going to go smoothly too. Found out the body guy fixing it knows my mom really well. She knows EVERYBODY it seems, or at least everyone who comes into her store (she's a manager for Advance Auto....can you say DISCOUNT on parts!!). She was talking to him and he was telling her about the s10 he'll be working on and everything went from there.
Still $8000+ is really shocking for the insurance to pay out on. I bet ya my brother will be raped on his premiums now.

How old is he? Prolly will be. Can't wait to see some pics of this thing. Anyway you can get progress pics while they are workin on it?
I may be able to. I don't know the guy too well but I don't think he would mind me stopping by to check out the progress.
He's 22 this year. He'll feel the burn on his insurance bill.

Hey thanks for tryin to get pics.. Being a bodyman I like to see how other bodyman do big jobs like that.
Oh yea he will feel like someone raped him and didn't use lube or give a reach around..
No, they'll use lube. It'll have glass in it tho.

Man I don't think they are that mean..
I wasn't able to get pics as they finished it Friday and was picked up on Saturday. I didn't think it would have been done this quickly since they were told there was no rush to get it done. Everthing seems ok except for the front lights. There is a ±1" gap between the lights and the front quarter panel on the drivers side. On the passenger's side there isn't nearly that much. It seems to drive fine. I drove it from the dealership to his home. No shakes or shimmies. I'm sure when he gets back he'll be able to tell if something is wrong right away. One thing I am curious about is the turning radius. It seems to be a lot wider than what mine is. I drove it like I do mine and I damn near took out the mailbox at home making the turn into the driveway. I wasn't turning late or anything. The radius wasn't very tight. I have a tighter turning radius than he does. He has a ZQ8 suspension package where as I have the run of the mill s-dime suspension. I don't know if that would make a difference or not. I would assume that he would have a slightly better radius or at least the same as mine.
Nothing was reworked as far as the body goes. It was all replaced. Motor mounts were replaced too. That makes since cause it was thrown on its side.
I'll get some pics of the headlight gap in question and the rest of it for a good before and after comparison.

It has a different steerin box then yours does.
I figured as much but should the turning radius be worse than mine?????

From what I understand due to it being a quicker box it doesn't crank as far as our trucks due..

if you can see the hump there please feel free to pass along any ideas to get rid of it. IMO it doesn't look like it was aligned up right or wasn't pushed into place 100% when bolted back together. New parts or replacements don't always fit/align perfectly .
Fit and finish is one place some body men will cut corners in the final stages. You could shim the rear of the cowl under the bolt with a washer, or try to get to the front hold down and bend it a touch to get rid of the hump.
