I have a wild idea!
A friend and I went playin in the rain yesterday,in his old a** VW Golf. we were pullin the ebrake and just spinnin in the parking lot.
Then it occoured to me, "I wonder if I can put a hand brake in the truck?"
So that is my question.
What would I need to accomplish this?

Alot of fabrication from the handle setup, to how the line will be held into place and its routing. New lines of a different length will also be needed!

I've seen it done before but it's going to be a hell of a lot of work.

Get a complete unit that has a long cable (gonna take some looking). Then piggy back that cable onto your existing cable with cable clamps.

^^I'm with stupid
u'd need to find a way to incorporate it into a console also.....with the assmb. probably wouldn't require much more than finding a way to relocate the cable to come in inthe middle of the cab.

I'd have to climb under my truck to remember exactly how the cable's routed, and clearances and such...but here goes: I would try to make a setup like Jeeps have. The cable forms a "Y", with the single section going down the center of the body above the driveshaft, and connecting to the handbrake in the console. The double section connects to each rear drum to actuate the parking brake. To make this work, the hardest part will probably be installing a handle. If you're not too attached to your center console (or if you don't have one), you could check the junkyards for a donor that might fit. Then you'll just need to route the cable through the floor and under the body and take out the footpedal.

How are they currently set up on a s-10?
Does it have a Y to both brakes?

Trying to make me go do work! :D
I'm about to head out so I'll take a look under mine before I leave, and post up when I get back. My Blazer might be routed a bit differently than your pickup, but I doubt it would be a big issue.

It runs down the drivers side frame, inside. With a long enough cable you would clamp onto it before it splits in 2 towards the rear.

Mine has the Y right above my driver's side torsion bar, right next to the transfer case...on 2WD that'd be below your driver's side door, about even with the tailshaft. For the handbake you'd probably need to run it down the center of the body with shorter cables. Later today I'll try to get some pictures of the cable setup on our Cherokee so you can see what I mean.

ive got a better idea how bout you just hold the release for the parking brake and push it. you get the same effect its just pushin it with you foot rather than pullin it with you hand. let me know how you like it

Haven't tried it in 2nd gens, but the pedal and release aren't exactly within easy reach while trying to steer. A handbrake in the center would be MUCH easier. Every time I have to get in my wife's Cherokee I get jealous of their setup. T-handle shifter, handbrake and t-case lever all in the center console.
