I was changing my oil today and when I put back my oil drain plug it just came out. When I looked at it, it had the thread in the bolt. I don't know why this happen but I can't but put the bolt back where it belongs. If I were to put it back it would be loose and the oil will just pour out. I don't know what I could do but do I have to re-thread it. Can someone please help me and let me know what I can do and how much it would be. I have a 99 s10 blazer 4.3 vortec. Thanks
I had a similar problem with my 89... most parts stores carry either an oversized plug or a plug that has another 'plug' inside it. So basically you can drill out and re-tap the hole one size bigger for the oversize plug. It worked for mine, although I was still VERY careful everytime I changed the oil. Or if you still have trouble you can get the other and then you just take out the inside plug to drain the oil. Shouldn't cost too much either way and the parts store would probably have the proper tap size too.

i would be very nervous about drilling and tapping it....i would be nervous that i would never get all the metal shreads out......if you can weld i think the best solution would be to weld a nut to the outside and just put a bolt in it.....i dont know anythimg about welding but i cant see why it wouldent work....the problem gets a lot more complicated if you cant weld tho.....
