All of us with Bench seats hate them.. They are too big, cant fit a decent size sub box behind them, etc. I got lucky, and when my roommate parted out his 85 i got first grab at the seats. Im not gonna tell you what bolt sizes to use, (because I cant remember, not because it is some big secret) etc, but i will give you the general overview.

The bench removal was very straighforward. 4 bolts are all that hold it down. 2 on each side. If memory serves me right, it was a 5/8ths that removes the nut. The bolts are built in. The seatbelts on a 1st gen are bolted to the floor, so they will stay when the bench comes out. (2nd gen 60/40's they are on the seat themselves) Once the old was out the new seats could be mocked in. I took the drivers side, made sure the slider brackets on each side were even with each other, (otherwse they would not slide properly) I took a black sharpie and marked where the inboard bolts would go. I removed the seat, and using a starting punch punched through the cab bottom. I used a bigger punch to enlarge the holes, then ran a 3/8's self tapping bolt through to secure the seat when It was put back in. The backs of the seats in the inboard side will sit lower, I shimmed them with rocker balls we had laying around. (3 for me) Overall, I love it. I would like to find a console out of a 2nd gen (if someone is parting one out) for inbetween the seats. I repeated the procedure on the passenger side. I had never done this before and it only took about an hour to do, so its not really hard. We did it on my buddys 2nd gen (baggedandcaddied) in about 40 minutes. I moved my sub box over so my sub isnt firing into the back of a seat, and it helped a lot for sound clarity. I know this isnt the best write up, but if you are thinking of undertaking this on your truck, feel free to shoot me an email tommystutz@gmail.com make sure you mention it in the subject. I generally delete emails from people I dont know. Or you can hit me up on one of my 3 messengers, they are all at the bottom of the post, so I wont bother on going through it.

A good time to vacuum, and find all the crap you thought you lost.

*Note* baggedandcaddied have both found that the buckets seem to sit closer to the doors. Not to the point of annoyance, but thats what we found.
