I dont htink you need to modify the pan, it is a fairly low profile unit. The problem you run into is puttting the pans in the 4x4's. I would have some work done to your trans to help it handle the extra power. (I.e. extra clutches installed, etc)

yea what about my wiring question......

ummm for the transmission im building it up right now because im running nitrous- im putting in corvette servos, B&M shift kit, .490 valve, "the beast" sun shell, transmission cooler and maybe some Z-pac clutches.

For the rearend im switching to a FORD 8.8" rearend w/ stock limited slip and 3.73's (you can find them for cheap as hell and the set your hubs out wide enough to run 10.5" wide corvette wheels in the back)

There is something different with the torque converter out of the F-bodys. I told Joker once the converter would fit and they don't. Can't remember what the deal was with it though.

Give me a year for the ls1 and I'll see if the connector matches for your truck.

i beleive any year from 2000 to 2002.

could i use an LS1 4l60e torque converter?

and still is it a hard swap or a pretty basic swap.

It's not as easy as you would think.I have not done a LS1 swap but I have done a carbed 350,TPI 350,and a LT1 swap in to a S10.There is a lot of little things that has to be done and in some cases major work done to get the swap to work. But if you stay dedicated to it you can get the swap done in good time. Most engine swap to a smallblock never get completed. They don't plan out the task or stay on top of it or give up from frustration and etc.I saw a small 95 2wd Toyota Tacoma the other day with a TPI 350 in it.Real nice swap and it almost looked stock. He said it took him 6 months but he worked on it every free moment he got and when the money was available. So just make sure you plan out the task very well.

I have a 98 S10 My GTO LS1 is a front sump motor that definatly will not work! I used a modified late model truck oil pan and still had to modify the cross member. Do you have a welder? Are you planning to run AC? The compressor sits low on pasenger side of engine. Frame will have to be modified their aswell. As for the wireing, That was vary intimadating to me it will not just plug into your S10 and their is a lot of it. My wiring guy tryed to use the GTO computer but could not get the anti lock brakes and some of the other components to read properly. We are running a late model (99-02) truck computer and it does the job well. I bought chevy shop manuals for S10 & LS1 to do the wiring my self (spent nearly $300 on them) If you are familiar with wiring diagrams you may get it done? IMO $1000 to Current Performance wiring was the best money I spent, Plug and Play. JTR (Stealth)says it will take aprox 40 hrs to wire your first fuel injected engine.
I wish you good luck the truck is a total blast to drive
3 things to keep you motivated
it will weight less
it will have more HP
it will get better MPG
