Hey guys, I need some info

I got a 2001 s-10 ZR2

It supposed to have a locking rear diff. When I put one rear wheel on ice and the other on cement and I give it gas, the one tire spins.

I thought after a certain rpm diff between tires, the tire on the concrete will grab, as the internal clutches in the rear diff will grab.

I tried the above by giving a little gas, 1/4 throttle, 3/4 throttle. Went up to 10 feet each time and all I got was one tire spinning.

The truck has 50 000 km on it. Is this normal behavior or is the rear diff done.

Thanks for help

Ck. your G codes on the rpo sticker. They're on post #15 of this link;

See if it even has a posi/locking diff first.

Theres the best explanation I can find for how a diff. works. like sparky said, check your G codes. I believe it should be G80.

The code in the glove box says G80 for sure so it does have posi.
