I have the motor out of a 92 old bravada. I have the computer out of a 87 4x4 blazer. would it be a good idea for me to use the computer out of the olds or they r the same.
My second question is i have the motor out of the caprice that spun a bearing but it seems that it had better take off. Could it be a differrence in the distributer chip because it had better take off. I cant think of iny thing that would through it off
If i could get an answer on my two question that will help me out alot. And by the way thanks to everybody on the site u all are so helpful
The computer needs to stay with hte 92 motor. What distributor chip?

on the computers it depends on the fuel injection system that you are using. If both are TBI the computers should be the same and you should be fine.

The police chip, if you can use it, is the one you want to keep.
If timing was off, then it would be slower. The distributor is used to adjust timing.

and i also think that the out of the olds has not ben broken in yet. There is a brand new motor it only has 60,000 on it
Ummm bud, 60k isnt exactly "Brand New" Thats about a quarter to a third throgh its useful life. 5k miles is about the longest breakin time I have ever heard of

Not like that brand new but it belonged to an old lady with no realative. She got it brand new. I didn't mean it was like fresh out the shop. I mean its not use to be driven hard

That can sometimes be worse than one run hard.If she only run it short distances not giving it time to get to operating temperature then it will have a more wear then one that run long distances at operating temps.
