I want to know basically what can I do to get about 210 at my wheelz on a 91 4.3l tbi. I have a copy of the mod list. But it does not state whats the first thing you should start with. I would rather have opinions from people who drive them every day. I know about some of top modz like Turboz, Superchargers, and v8 swap. But what the best to start of with. The reason is because xmas is coming i am still 17 so i need to start giving hints to my parents about what i want for my dime. So if you all could just throw me some suggestions i would be real thankful.
Also some estimates on price Thanks A lot

Aside from supercharging, turbo-charging or nitrous, here lies the dilemma. It's not just getting 210hp to the rear wheels, it's getting it there where it will work. Here's what I mean.
210 to the rear wheels equals about 250-270 at the crank. Not hard, but it's gonna take more than just engine work to do you any good. You're gonna need a stall converter if it's an automatic, good gears (3.42-4.10) and a posi-trac differential unless spinning one tire for three city blocks is your idea of fun. Basically, another grand or so to get that hp to do you any good. I always do that stuff first, the engine last.
Now, to make that 1 hp per cubic inch (at the crank) you're looking for is a fairly simple recipe. Full length headers, 270-280 adv. duration cam with required springs ,retainers and screw-in studs, full roller rockers, 350 throttle body, MSD-6 or equivalent ignition system and a custom chip to make it all work. Do the mods in that order. Meaning the 2nd paragraph before the third ;).

So whats the diff in the police 4.3 & the standard 4.3? I agree with Sparky2263. Gears, tork con. and traction frist things to do on a budget.

Also the getting rid of the worst quality of the TBI "the heads" would help a lot.Going to Vortecs would make a very noticeable difference in power.Use the vortec heads,Edelbrock intake with adapter, and custom chip would make a very good gain in power. You add a real good cam and the other things Sparky is talking about and you would be making some real good power. Also to get some air in there try to get a 454 TBI with 2 inch bores. It bumps the CFM up to 670 the same as a Holley TBI.The 350 TBI is the same as the 4.3 except for the injectors. But adding the 350 injectors after all those mods would really help add some more fuel to the fire.

Thanks for all input. I take it and make it work. Cuz only thing i need is stall for the first part. Cuz i have posi 3.73 and vette servo
ok,so i can stick a 454 tbi on my 4.3?do i need a different manifold or modify mine?i hate to be a pain in the ass but its winter and time to change some stuff on the mg
You will need to modify your manifold. Every GM TBI unit (2bbl)has the same bolt pattern, just different size bores. take it to a machine shop and have them bore the hole out a little so they are 2"

You could also have a shop fab you up an adapter plate. Yeah it would neck down some but you can get up to 75% efficiency in terms of flow if you do it right. If you are interested on how to do this, let me know and I will post diagrams and go further into it.
i am very interested.sounds like a better idea than going to a carb and big ass cam
