i dunno if its a very answerable question..but what is generaly a good amount of timing to run?
mines set at +12* right now, and ive sorta been wanting to bump that ahead a bit more, but i wanted some general opinions on this subject.
Thanks!!

The 2.8 can stand a TON of initial advance. I ran mine around 20 degs with no ping, better idle and a substantial power increase.
Now, it may have been due to the short stroke. The 327 reacts the same way as compared to a 350 or a 305. The 3.4 has a longer stroke so, it may or may not like the increased timing. You're running a carb so I'd just look for total advance and not worry about initial. I'd say you could get close to 50 total.
See where you're at, bump up 2 degs at a time and road test. Best way I know ofr.

I also do the same as sparky, advance a couple and road test.
I am currently running 30* advance but I am required to use premium ONLY. I also have to make the A/F ratio a slight bit on the rich side to help cool the chambers.

alright, sounds good guys
i run 91 octane fuel already, just for the hell of it..so im best off to advance like mad and take advantave of it! haha

beware, too much advance will actually make you lose power.

k ill watch out for that
my little timing scale only goes to 16 or so..did you have to put on a diff. one to read it as high as your have yours set?

You can buy a tape that goes on the balancer. Or, you can measure your current marks and continue on marking around to 50 degs. I have Fluidampers on my stuff, they're marked every degree for the first 90.
