My brakes are going crazy and i don't know what it is. I have a 99 s10 blazer 4.3 automatic. On christmas day i was peeling out when i heard a thumping sound and believed it might me my transmission mount but its not. Later i thought it was the caliper that it was getting stuck because my rotor wouldn't turned so i bought one but still makes horrible sounds. My truck is jacked up so the tires are in the air not touching the ground. I took off the tires but when am in drive and press the brakes it sounds like the brakes are getting stuck. It makes a cracking sound but dont know what the problem is. I put a new caliper thinking it was damage but it wasn't. Autozone said maybe the abs got damged but not sure if that is it. When i hold the brake down and put it on drive while holding the brakes it makes that bad sound. The noise is coming from the rear driver side area. It sounds like if the brakes are getting stuck to the rotor but isn't letting go making that bad sound. When i press the brakes you can see the rotor shake like if something is getting stuck. I have no idea what this could be so do you guys have any ideas what i can do. Thanks a lot

Noises are a pain to try and diagnose over the 'net. Even harder is when the description of said noise involves diagnosis rather than a description of the noise. In other words, you're trying to describe (in detail) what's wrong, rather than describing (in detail) the exact noise it's making.

The only description I have is that you heard a thumping noise, it makes a cracking sound (never heard that one) and it's coming from the right rear. From that description, I'd be looking at the rear brakes and suspension.

I'm not busting your balls, I just noticed that everybody has looked at this post with no answers. I'm just describing why.

Here's a list I give customers when I need a better description;

When does it occur?

¨ Cold days

¨ Hot days

¨ Wet / rain

¨ All the time

¨ Intermittent

¨ Parking maneuvers

¨ At road speed

¨ Accelerating

¨ Decelerating

Your truck seems to new for this, but I have seen several cases where the inner layer of the rubber brake hose collapsed, holding pressure on the caliper, causing it to stick.
