i just installed some fog lights and ran the whires inside the cab.
right now they connect to a switch i mounted by the parking brake release.
any one know what whires to splice and where so that they turn on automatically when the headlights do? i have a 98 ext cab s10.
I wired mine to a relay, and then wired a switch to the Parking lights on my truck. Now you can turn them off and on but only if the parking light is on. Not sure which wire, but it would be diff for yours anyway

im sure if you wired the fog lights into the accessory on the fues box, they would come on when the park lights came on.
i did something similar on my old truck

or you could look at your headlight switch see which wire gets hot when park lights are on and wire them to relay then to hot wire on park lightswitch. If you need a diagram just get back to me

ya i thought i would probably need to look at the stock switch and tap into a wire there but wasn't sure which one. then what do i do with the negative and ground wires? a diagram would be great though. thanx

You could also use those crimp-type splice connectors and connect them to the wires running to the headlight bulbs. You may need to put a larger fuse in the space for the headlights with the addition of the fogs lights, depending on their draw. I would suggest wiring them to the parking lights as the draw by them is low, the addition of the fog lights probably wouldn't warrant a higher fuse.
The fogs lights will last longer if they aren't on all of the time. Why not leave them on their own switch for total control of the lights?

ive thaught of that too. but if i do that im going to cut and mount the switch buy the parking brake release or where the stock light knob is located, which is what i will probably end up doing. but then i just need to find a better looking switch, worthy of a visible postion in the dash.
thanx for ur help guys

What year and model are you working on? You may be able to get a factory fog light switch from a dealer or wrecking yard and install it in the factory location.

The '98's didn't have a factory fog light option, did they? Oh well.
