In September of 93,I made it my life's mission to aquire a new body style L35 Sonoma. After countless phone calls and dead ends,I finally located one in a town 60 miles away. (This was when the new 94's were first being released)
I couldn't afford a Syclone or Typhoon,so I decided to get a 2nd Gen with the Sonoma GT motor.I didn't want the S-10 SS,because the GMC's frontend with the cool halogen headlights looked better IMO.
I drive to the stealership and there she is.Ultra Silver standard cab shortbed wth the L35,foglights,gray buckets seats with a console.Only thing I didn't like was the open rear diff with 3.08's.Anyway's,I bought it on the spot for $15500.
I did all the bolt-ons (headers,chip,thermostat,power pulleys,Syclone style Edelebrock cat-back)dropped in a 4.11 posi,Syclone style bed cover,chrome traction bars,limo tint,billet grille,and S-10 SS badges so ppl would know "what's up" ;) .In '96 I added the ZQ8 16X8 rims.
I drove the piss outta that truck, and it moved pretty good. After 6 years and 8 months of driving it (up to 135k)I came upon the opportunity to buy my Typhoon.
The Sonoma was clean enough to lick when I sold it,and I wound up getting $6500 for it.Sold it to a kid at work.He slammed it,put on some 20's,and was big pimpin'.
Today a buddy told me that he saw it stripped and totalled at a junkyard. The whole pass side is FUBAR.I'm gonna head over there and get some pics soon,as well as post some of it in it's prime.
I hate that it's dead,cause I loved that truck. RIP mother****er......
